whe an AK/admin/staff member tags a thread what does it do?

It just shows that it is an important topic. It's not like a FAQ where it bumps it up or a sticky where it's pinned to the top of the forum.

Tagged topics will consist to 30 pages, max. If a topic isn't tagged, they will be locked when the topic has reach 10 pages. :)

Most tagged threads will be Design Notes, Beleen Notes, or Official Release threads. There are also Official threads which are tagged, normally the "Keep all discussion of X here" threads. Stickied can also be tagged (Just adds to importance)

Note that ONLY staff can tag threads; that way, you can see that it's definitely an important thread.
