Hi, I posted a story in approval requests forum, and it got approved by an AK. (S)he told me to send an application to the approved suthor group.

However after reading the stickyin that forum, I got a bit confused. Falerin said that those aren't previously approved on the old system should wait 14 days. Should I? I only got approved today...

So when and how should I send my application?

Go to this link here, and click the button on the Approved Author/Poet row (depending on which you're applying for) that says "Join". After that you'll have an option to send a PM to the group manager, do so and in that PM include the link to your approval thread. There's no need to wait as far as I can tell, once you're approved you are free to submit your application.

I think the rule you're referring to is this one below:
You may only PM an AK or Falerin ONCE to ask about your approval process and then only after 14 days.

However, this is only relevant if you submit your application and don't get added to the Approved Author/Poet group within 14 days.
