What does it mean when an AK has a X on their avatar?

I believe, it means that they're a Forum Moderator.

If you are talking about this ---> <--- that's the [Moderator] symbol = the person has moderating powers in the area!

Alternatively, if you're talking about the X over a soccer player, that typically means the team they were cheering for was defeated in the World Cup. So, depending on what you're asking about, it could be any of those! :D
