My post is simple about one thing, mostly so poor grammar on Forum, and too much slang.

I've been thinking about it recently as it is difficult for some people to read for example, that: i cant w8 for da release -- which some people do write like that, while that would be way better to read + for your eyes: I can't wait for the release.
Or sometimes there're people who put NO commas or fullstops.. It is even harder to make a sense out of the post!

Is there anything that can be done with it, maybe even a forum rule to use correct English?

Yes, I agree with you and like the idea but I don't think it's plausible.

You have to take into consideration, that many people on the forums do not speak English as their first language.
Learning a language is difficult, without the added grammar on top.

I also feel that if this, were say a new rule, it would be hard to get people to stand by.
It would be a constant struggle between Archknights/Mods and regular users.
It may of course come to the inconvenience of many users, which is why I don't think a rule or proposal like this would work.

Inconceivable!

First, not everyone's first language is English. You can't really expect everyone to write perfectly.

Shorthand like w8, btw, tbh or imo are common that its become easy to understand. I know I throw in a "btw" or "imo" occasionally just out of habit. They don't look "professional" but they're intended for ease of writing.

A rule would make communicating here so much harder. A forum is about conveying ideas. You can do that despite imperfections in grammar, a few spelling mistakes or the occasional shorthand. The last thing I'd want to see is posts being deleted because someone forgot a period or comma somewhere. Plus I'm sure it would be a nightmare for the rule to be enforced since most of the posts here have some sort of grammatical or spelling mistakes.

I mean where would you stop? Is a missing period too much? How about a mispelling? They are easy to make, the last sentence just had one that you probably missed. I just feel like it would really be one of those rules that depend entirely on discretion of the Mod or AK to what is or isn't breaking the rule.

Yes, but using too much slang is sometimes too painful to your eyes.
I understand that English isn't people's first language, nor mine but putting commas and fullstops is in every language and rule is the same in them (where to but a comma, etc).
Mispelling is normal, it sometimes even happens that you press wrong key on the keyboard but that's not the issue that is too bad..

I seen many posts in various Q&A with replies (if answered question) only 'kk'. Is that really a 'thank you' for answering? Simple 'thanks' would be better.

That's just a case of bad manners - But I don't see why a "ty" wouldn't suffice.

Learning to a foreign language is difficult, added to grammar may just make someone look away from it. As to how proper English is spoken/written that's something that not even Mods/AK's can change. This is the internet, it is where spelling, punctuation and grammar comes to bid a farewell.

As for the abbreviations examples kk,ty,np,yw, ect. most people do often use them, but as i long as i understand it i can answer it.

If i am not mistaken English and its variations is the only language that uses commas and many others do not use
full stops either. You have to remember this game is played all around the world and most of them use a translator to communicate.
As long as you can read and understand the post then it has done the job.

I've moved this to Forum Suggestions, as a thread on this matter is not a simple question and answer thread about the forums. You're suggesting a policy be enforced, even if phrased as a question, and Forum Suggestions is the place to do so.

As to the actual suggestion, while I sympathize, I can't say I would be in favor of enforcing a policy of "correct" English. And it's not primarily because it would create more work for the forum staff. Though we do have some language restrictions, the extent of enforcement is to guarantee all members will be able to understand one another. I'm sure sometimes it may seem as though shorthand is unintelligible, but it's really not in the same league as speaking in a completely different language. We usually disallow longer instances of leet speak as well, for the above reason, but if the member is using English, and you can phonetically make out what the person says, it's quite different from writing in an entirely separate language.

About your more specific points, while it is always nice to have a member thank you for helping him when you answer his question, requiring that of members is too extreme, in my opinion. We enforce minimum standards of interaction, but expecting all forum members to have perfect manners is unreasonable, considering both the age of some of the forum members and the actual domain of interaction. These forums are, for the most part, an informal sphere of communication.

It may help you to look at a thank you as an unexpected positive instance, rather than seeing a lack of one as an unexpected negative instance. It's all in the perception. I can tell you that if I expected a thank you for everything I did, I wouldn't still be here. :P

To put it simply, while we enforce minimum standards of behavior, compelling standards of etiquette and writing ability goes a bit beyond that. Not to mention, standards of writing are always relative. Nobody uses perfectly correct grammar every time he or she speaks. This may be worth keeping in mind.

People tend to right things wrong or abbreviate words just to make it quicker to type. Also I tend to right it incorrectly because my first language is Chinese and English is my second (although I am better at English than Chinese since I live in Australia)
