I've noticed in the Question and Answers that people aren't getting their facts straight and are reporting false information. People posting in the Question and Answer are already most likely confused and don't need false information. In the rules there should be some sort of rule/suggestion type thing saying that you should make sure you are giving true information to the best of your knowledge. Looking through the rules on the Q&A I didn't see it stated anywhere about a rule not posting false information. So basically a rude person could go through and just give false information as they please. Of course if they continued doing it, it would be considered spam. But that's just my idea.

well most of the time
the people answering do think it is the right answer
you could always post correcting them though

I know a lot of people do, I guess my problem is the people who don't really want to help, but simply want to be the first to answer and say wrong things.

well if you refer to the title seekers and such
they (should) know that they wont get rewarded that way
especially not if they give false information

Working under a Q&A forum, this occurs most of the time. When those times come, posts such as those are just spam and does not help the topic creator or contribute much; those posts are dealt with.

Having a rule just to state that answers need to be true is, well, "silly." We all make mistakes sometimes, and that is nothing no one can avoid. If a poster makes that mistake, another could post correcting them in a nice manner and give off the right information, as coolboypai said.

It's pretty easy to tell when someone is purposely falsifying information. In such a case, they will be reprimanded. Adding a new rule for this purpose seems kind of superfluous to me.

On the other hand, if it's a mistake, it makes no sense to punish users for that. A simple correction is enough.

However, in regards to AQW Q&A (assuming that's the Q&A you're all talking about), it would be extremely helpful to provide a link to the wiki, or a quote at the very least, if it's a staff statement. This way, information accuracy can be verified. It's not needed to include this as a rule, but perhaps note it in the rules or a sticky.
