What? I'm insane? Am I really?

I believe most people would claim that the strongest staff in the game is Charfade's Staff. This is indeed true, however, Level 30 and 31(even 32s) will want to jump onto this.

Let's compare with two highly notable staffs: Azrael and Charfade's Staff

Azrael:

Damage: +31

Enhancement Slots: 6

Dexterity: +4

Technology: +4

Support: +16

Azrael Requirements:

Level Required: 30

Technology required: 40

Support required: 30
------------------------------------

Charfade's Staff:

Damage: +32

Enhancement Slots: 8

Dexterity: +10

Technology: +7

Support: +8

Charfade's Staff Requirements:

Level Required: 32

Dexterity required: 42

Technology required: 30
-----------------------------------

You undoubtedly notice that Charfade's is much stronger. Here's a summed up version of all the stat buffs etc.:

---Azrael is 1 damage point weaker (this really isn't anything to worry about)

---Charfade's Staff has 2 enhancements more than Azrael

---Azrael has 1 stat mod less than Charfade's Staff

Here's the real eye catcher, if you notice the weapon requirements, Charfade's requires a large amount of dexterity while Azrael requires tech. Some believe having too much tech is a bad thing, but when you're a mage, it's the opposite. So all-in-all Charfade's and Azrael are nearly the same in strength but both support very different build.

Charfade's is more for the dex mage(if any of those exist anymore ) and more notably, the +5 focus build.

Example: http://img848.imageshack.us/img848/5778/charbuild.png

Azrael's is mainly for one build only, the support build! (YAY! err...)

But who wants a tech requirement? Eww? seriously? We needs loads of dex to defend ourselves!

WRONG

With mages having high tech all they really need to worry about is dexterity correct? What about a STR merc/bounty? What about being SmokeScreened? There is a heavenly solution which I call Defense Matrix. If you have a good DM (giving at or over 20 defense points) you should have no issues with this. So it's actually better to have more tech than more dex.

Now to the ----

Egg Staff:

Damage: +29

Enhancement Slots: 7

Dexterity: +6

Technology: +10

Support: +6

Egg Staff Requirements

Level Required: 30

Technology required: 40

Support required: 30
--------------------------------------
OH NOES! A tech requirement! First off, I think many of you will noticed this is just a weaker version of Azrael. You are indeed correct. HOWEVER, The Egg Staff is an ideal all around weapon. I've been able to contort it to a +4 focus build, a +5 focus build, and a Support Build. (The support build is the most effective one)

Now the major differences between Egg Staff and Azrael is:

---Egg Staff has 1 more enhancement block than Azrael

---Azrael has 2 more stat mods than Egg Staff

---Azrael has 2 more damage points than Egg Staff

That's actually not bad at all! If you add both enhancements and stat mods to each weapon, Azrael only trump Egg Staff by one measly stat point. (sometimes that can make a difference, most of the time it can't)

Another noticeable difference, the stat placement. As you can see, Azrael is really only beneficial to a Support Build. You can try other builds, but it really doesn't do much. Egg Staff is more of an all around build like I mentioned before, it's a versatile weapon and ideal for someone wanting more bang for their buck.

Compared to Charfade's the weapon seems weaker; while in reality it is stronger. The Egg Staff is a level 30 weapon. Charfade's Staff is a level 32. Let's say Titan magically decides to buff the Egg Staff to level 32. The staff would most likely have 4 more stat buffs, +2 damage points, and possibly +1 enhancement. It would essentially be a better weapon. So what am I saying?

I'm saying, for a level 30 weapon, the Egg Staff is THE seasonal item to grab for easter. It's 400 credits cheaper than the other staff, but it also adds to your rarity score so you can get that nice achievement. ;)

So if you missed out on Azrael you should definitely buy the Egg Staff.

Also, here are some builds with various equips:

Egg Support Build: (I have yet to lose one battle with this build)

http://img97.imageshack.us/img97/5713/eggsupport.png

Egg +5 focus with imperial ACP:

Egg +5 focus with SkullFire Blaster:

http://img851.imageshack.us/img851/4548/5fireversion.png

I do not have the +4 focus build images but rest assured they are plausible builds :)

*NOTE: all builds you see in the images has stat enhancements

BUY NOW! ;)

If it gets a buff ( maybe +2 or 3 damage and 2 -3 stat mods? ) it definitly will be. I think I'll be getting it regardless because I've always thought its a good staff.

The Egg Staff is definitely a hands down great weapon. Lotus has used it for quite sometime and could tell you all of it's wonders. I definitely agree with you Lotus, the Egg Mage is definitely the most powerful build I've ever seen.

@ Lotus , surely I read it , loved it , though there are a lot of flaws . What if you meet a strength bounty hunter who DOES not smoke you but simply strike . Good thing a small bunch of the hunters do that , the rest are mindless zombies . Also , as a mage , I'd pick dex over tech any day . Also ... I have Doom Circle which perfectly fit my build , you should check it out . You'd think Doom Circle only allows you a Dex build ...... WRONG

@Snaipera

There's a simple solution, throw the DM before they can use massacre. It gives you 3 extra turns while he's waiting to massacre you after wards. If you you your skill tree set correctly it can work. Most builds don't work because the player has yet to master it. Once it's mastered it's difficult to beat said player.

@Lotus and Snaipera

And the moment you put up DM, I smoke you then mash you with smoke/massacre combo as soon as your DM wears off. Good luck with that.

Interesting. I really envy your equipment set there. But indeed, there's nothing like going old school Imperial ACP and E Bunnyzooka. I need to try that sometime.

As a general rule, high tech/dex boosting equipment works great for 5 focus builds, even if they're level 30 items, because you can rely on robot to do damage.

Depends on what you prefer, sometimes i like to use Cryomancer Staff(+5str, +5dex, +15tech, 8enhancements) other times Charfade staff. Oh and the Egg staff doesnt seem that impressive to me, +29 damage, +22 mods, and 7 enhancements is a bit outdated considering Cryomancer/Charfade both have 32 damage/25 mods/8 enhancements.
