Introduction First of all, if you're too lazy to read this whole post, then at least read this Introduction and the Conclusion. I'm a level 30 non-varium Tech Mage. I know how it feels to lose time... after time... after time. I know there's been a lot of controversy about classes being OP or UP, the balance problems of EpicDuel, and how some Varium players are fighting unfairly with way too good weapons and other things, blah, blah, blah. But the way I see it is that EpicDuel, because it's a PVP-based game, people notice balance problems, how some classes are better than others, and so on more than usual. This is why you get so many complaints on the Forums about different things-people notice it more because they're fighting other people that are one of those classes, have those weapons, and are just better than you, so when something happens badly for them they can immediately blame Titan and Nightwraith for making one class more OP or UP than another. This makes it hard for them. I have seen a lot of people saying that Titan and Nightwraith are money hungry these days, but you have to give them at least some credit for actually being able to endure all the rants of people and make an update every week trying to improve EpicDuel the best they can at that present time. Sure, they sometimes don't live up to all their promises, especially some major ones people have been wanting for a while now; (2 v 1 boss battles, anyone?) but at least they're trying to make EpicDuel better in some way, even if it's really small. In this post I will say what I think about the controversies of balance, varium-to-non-varium, and other topics of interest. ( To me at least.) Balance Controversy All the classes of EpicDuel are supposed to be very similar, and some of the skills for each class have a very vivid resemblance to another skill from another class. With other skills the relationship is somewhat harder to realize. So when you see this, please bear in mind that some of these skills don't really correspond with any of the other skills in other classes. Tech Mage. Mercenary. Bounty Hunter. Class with the best skill. Field Medic. Field Medic. Field Medic. Tech Mage Defense Matrix. Blood Shield. Energy Shield. Bounty Hunter Technician. Field Commander. Reflex Boost. Bounty Hunter Malfunction. Intimidate. Smoke Screen. Bounty Hunter Overload. Maul. Stun Grenade. Mercenary Plasma Rain. Artillery Strike. Multi-Shot. Mercenary Supercharge. Surgical Strike. Massacre. Bounty Hunter Assimilation. Atom Smasher. EMP Grenade. Bounty Hunter Bludgeon. Double Strike. Venom Strike. Bounty Hunter Plasma Bolt. Bunker Buster. Cheap Shot. Mercenary Deadly Aim. Hybrid Armor. Shadow Arts. Mercenary Reroute. Berserker. Blood Lust. Mercenary I am not recommending anything in this section of the post, convincing anybody of anything, I just want to tell all of you what I think. Varium-Nonvarium Controversy This has been a problem with EpicDuel ever since it started gettin more popular in Beta times. (I was not around then, but that's what I've heard.) Varium players ARE SUPPOSED to be better than Nonvarium. Some think the gap is way too big, some think it's just right, and others think that Nonvarium are allowed to play EpicDuel just so the better Varium players can beat on those "noobs" to get easy wins every once in a while. I think all you Varium players should even for just one day not equip their Varium stuff and either buy or dig out of the bottom of their inventory some Nonvarium weapons, armor, and NO ROBOT just to see how much us Nonvarium players lose so you hopefully understand how it feels to be a Nonvarium. Also, if you say that you were a Nonvarium in your level 25-30 days and "know how it feels to lose", try it again. Then you'll really know how it is these days. Nonvarium players can give some contention to other Varium players if they're very skilled or are just lucky, but most Nonvarium players lose 99 out of 100 battles against Varium players. (Believe me, it's happened.) Also, the Varium players complain as much or more than the Nonvarium players do, which is completely crazy. The Varium players already have an edge, but for some of them whenever any Nonvarium player finds a way to beat them then they have to go and complain that there needs to be better balance, so then sometimes in the next update, Nonvariums get nerfed and lose even more. I think it's time to finally give Nonvarium players SOMETHING to help us. I have some recommendations for what they can do, but I'm going to leave that open-ended for now. Fame As countless people have been saying: fame promotes elitism. It annoys me that MOST of the people on the top fame leaders list just stand around and ask everybody fame for fame. Fame is one of the most different things about EpicDuel. It has nothing to do with the focal point: battling. It has to do with making two clicks to make someone else happy. The fact that achievements can be gotten from fame is just plain dumb. People are improving their rating by asking people "Fame for Fame?". Two of the people on the all-time Fame list really stand out for me- Bluebird No 1 and Fay Beee. They got their fame not by asking people for fame, but by actually being good and getting lots of wins. (At least I don't think they ask people for fame.) A lot of people ask others for fame, but there are some people ( myself included) that don't ask for fame. We just actually fight and go along with our lives, not spending them asking to have more fame from pretty much everybody we come across, fighting or otherwise. Fame is stupid. I don't really want to remove it for some weird reason, but I think that's the only possible solution at the time to fix the problems with it. It's just that lots of people will then complain that they took away fame, but that's their loss, and that's what they get for abusing it. Enhancements This sort of goes with the Varium-Non-Varium controversy, but I think it should be in a place of its own. Varium players have always been better than Non-Varium, but with the recent addition of Zooka/Gun Enhancements it just widened the gap. Varium players get better Enhancements for their weapons than Non-Varium players do, but they also get more enhancement slots for their weapons. Because Varium players spend less fake money than Non-Variums, the price for Varium Enhancements is less. But I don't think the price of credit Enhancements should be so high. Sure, the recent update lowered the price, so its somewhat easier, but it's still extremely hard to get Enhancements. If someone has a really good aux that has 10 enhancement slots, then they want to fully enhance it, it's gonna cost 110,000 credits for 10 stats. This number is just outrageous so in this section I'm recommending that for the 7-10th Enhancements of a weapon the difference between that and the one before it should be less. Just an idea. The Community The community of EpicDuel in-game and in forums is way too disrespectful. For a lot of people, if you say hi at the beginning of a battle they won't even talk to you throughout the whole battle. You ask a question, they don't say s word. One personal pet peeve is when someone says good game after a 2-4 round massacre of me. I know they're trying to be nice, but it really annoys me when they do this, because it's not really a good game. But, back on topic. People are almost always having verbal fights on Forums and sometimes in battles too. It's just so annoying when people have to be so mean around everyone else. As they said in the Design Notes of April 26, Elf Priest Jzaanu has done a lot to help make EpicDuel better. I really look up to her as a role model for what a nice person is. I know of a TV show where people go crazy about something very small, but it's funny. This happens sometimes on forums, and it's just so unnecessary it's nowhere close to funny. Conclusion The main thing I'm trying to say in all of this is that EpicDuel has it's problems, but it also has its greatnesses. Nobody can please everybody, but you can please a lot of people. The problem is, there will always be some unsatisfied people out there, you just have to deal with them.
