It is annoying when I don't have a long-to-be-post I wrote copyed and it disappears. It used to auto-save on my old computer but not this one.

I've had things go wonky on me when I'm posting. Sometimes I can hit the back arrow on my browser and it goes back to the posting box and still has all my text, and sometimes I can't. I've never been able to figure out the rhyme or reason behind why it sometimes works, but I can tell you it's not a forum setting... most likely it's a function of your browser settings. We don't have a setting to auto-save while you post.

Personally, when I've typed up a particularly long post I like to copy it before I hit the submit button. That way, if something goes weird, I can just go back and paste the text into a new post instead of having to retype. For REALLY long posts (like something you might post in L&L for example), I'd even consider writing up the post in an external program (like Word or Notepad) just to be extra safe in case of forum posting problems.

Or, you can do the annoyingly redundant thing of hitting post every few paragraphs/lines and just edit to update and add more, with a disclaimer *more to come* at the bottom of the post. I actually do this when I post in L&L sometimes. It is the most annoying thing, but it is kinda like how Word periodically autosaves for you.

Thanks Seahawk and Eukara.

That answers my question, and I actually do all of the stuff you guys do (saving in word, typing and editing, etc). I was just wondering if there was a forum feature of auto-saving which unfortunately is not the case.

As they say: Great minds think alike.
