Well , since what Game said , i'll tell my reason :
* Old BH and Merc rocks!
* No OPed complaints about Massacre and so on .
* It's fun trying to use some builds .

Beta:

Non variums had a slight chance to defeat variums.
Field Medic and support greatly aided bounty hunters and Tech mages.
No stat diminishes, the block rate was near 70% at max(I remember it was 70% at max before it got nerfed to 60% until 45% up to this day)
Strategy was really needed to win.

@king Frostlich

In beta nonvariums had NO CHANCE at all!

Beta weapon promos which everyone had, and founder which everyone had.

Nonvars were screwed. Lol

Before they made enhancements and the new classes( not sure if before gamma). since they made the new classes, we has the TLM GOD for 6 months, ch plasma armor buff for 6 months, BM strength builds( maybe even now)

^Yeah, beta non varium BHs really sucked, yet they were the most popular among non variums.

Also, NV vs. V wise, beta was the most balanced phase so far, although the gap is not that big at the moment (if you got the creds). I guess you could compare today's fully enhanced non varium vs. fully enhanced varium player to non varium vs. varium in beta.

Talking about classes, this exact moment is the most balanced we've had for a while. Even though +5 focus Blood Mages seem to counter almost every other build out there and Mercenaries behaving the opposite, there aren't any other major imbalances between classes.

picking a favourite from a box of bad eggs...tough choice.

Can I say that no phase was ever close to balanced, even excluding differences between vars and non vars.

In Delta, NV now have a chance, but in Beta, Support was more important, not to mention no Agility, and most importantly no enhancements.

If your rolling in credits right now in Delta is pretty balanced Gap wise. If you not rolling in credits Beta is for you, back in Beta a good tactic on my mage could beat a common BH build on a Founder but get crushed by a Merc but that is just how Beta rolled

I'm hoping Omega will be the most balanced phase as improvements to the game continue to be made.
Right now I have to say is the most balanced Delta has been (I joined in the very beginning of delta, do I can't speak for the other phases). There are some things that need to be worked out with the classes, but the nv to var balance is good, as there are competitive nv items but var items still have an edge to keep the game funded.

@King FrostLich agreed with chosen one and also it was more the mercs and techmages who benefited more from support. The whole support builds started in the mercs remember?

I seriously agree that late delta was the most balanced :\ Mostly because of the gap of the non-varium being relatively smaller.

Delta, weapons are very balanced and can get enchancements... Also i realised Cardboard Crusader gives more stats than Delta Armor, which is pretty awesome for me...

Personally Beta.

The only thing you had to worry about were founders and even so they were beatable IMO. Plasma Bolt and re-route were all a TM like myself really needed.

In Gamma, I think the bot was the reason I left,it was simply too strong for me to counter. I've been back for about a month or so and I still fear those who use that bot,but I play because I have fun and simply don't care who I have to fight.

Forgot Plasma Rain...

Beta would have been best if there were a better range of weapons. However, in all the other phases things such as enhancements have caused inflated stats, and also in Delta the almost monthly release of new overpowered promotional items has ruined balance, worse than just the overpowered founders.

However, there were loads of creative builds in Beta, and I think that if there were a few new weapons, and if enhancements were less expensive and if they only applied to primaries, the game would be amazing. Especially if things like tournaments and new classes (fully developed new classes, tested for balance for months) were then added. For me, beta was the most fun, and with the 'balance' in the current phases, it's more about who goes first and gets the crit and stuff.

To be honest T.600, i think its just the strength stat that's really dominating right now, when that goes down. I believe the Tactical Mercenary tank build will become the new era.

imho 2 phase are balanced but the most balanced goes to beta

beta

NO such things as enhancements and all classes had thier oped build, tough hl mages were the best at least merc had their support build/str build and bh had their smoke mass build. enhancements spoiled the balance when they had no enhancements 2v2 was quite balanced a non var could beat a varium if he/she outplay the varium and used boosters here and there.

late delta

due to the new varium/non varium weps. but still enh is still a big problem.
