Ok!

So I've been gone from here for about 2 years, and last thing I did here before school life got too busy was a little 3D DF weapon gallery. Now that I've got a little extra time I thought I'd come back to that and do a little thing that had been suggested a lot in the time I was doing said gallery. A lot of people actually asked for 3D armor, and at the time I wasn't quite ready to make a full set of armor. Right now I've pretty much mastered 3D modeling for games, and I think I can start making a full 3D armor.

So here's the deal: I'm going to leave this up for a week, and in the first 3 days, any armor can be suggested.
After that I'll make a selection of armors I like best. You guys can then start voting for one of these armors, and at the end of the week the armor that has most votes will be modeled by me.
Depending on how much time I have I might add a couple animations, and a nice 3D window so you can look at it from any angle.

=================================

For ease of reading please use the following form to suggest an armor:

quote:

Name:"Name of the armor here please!"
Pedia page: "for info about the armor/an image"
Image: "If the pedia page has no picture, please do link me a screenshot of the armor!"
Comments: "Any suggestions, side-notes, or comments here!:D"

Also, any questions and non-submissions may just be posted here, like any other post. That way I'll be sure to read everything.

=================================

On a side-note, I do hope this is the correct place to post, since I can't find a place to post a poll specifically.
But since people can discuss about what armor they'd like to see me make in 3D here, I suppose this would be the place to post. If not, please tell me where I CAN do this, so I can relocate.

=================================

Anyway, That's about all I've got to say, so lets hope for a nice result! :D

Click Here! for the gallery, where I'll be posting updates.

EDIT: It would seem this is the wrong section to post in, sorry bout that o.o;
EDITEDIT: Oh it seems this was the right place after all!

Hello? Anybody here?
Seems like this place doesn't get too many views, so I'm just gonna go with an earlier suggestion, Technomancer.
If however anybody has any suggestions before the 5th, I'll be choosing between those. If not, then I'll be starting on making Technomancer starting the 6th.

EDIT: OK! Time's over, so I'll just be making Technomancer. Really is a shame nobody ever checks this place, but I'll be making stuff nonetheless. I'll be posting updates on the gallery page.

Can you make TimeKiller? That would be so cool.

o.o Replies!

Should've kept watching this after that one week, haha!

Anyways, I'm currently working on the texturing bit, but my tablet won't work properly with 3Ds Max and I found out recently that A lot of texturing tools actually are integrated in 3Ds Max. So naturally I want to try that out, since painting directly onto the model will allow for way better textures then when texturing in the traditional 2D way. But now my tablet won't work and I can't figure out why 8D

Anyway, school is really busy, and I gotta go get an internship ASAP, so this has for the most been done while on my way to school.
Which is about 3 hours each week, haha!

I might have to go back to normal photoshop painting textures, but I'm gonna wait and try to fix this issue for a while first.

Oh well! I'll be uploading a quick render soon, which has the basic texture layout already, but nothing fancy as I can't really do much of that with my mouse D:

Wow, looking really nice so far. One thing I'd recommend, though - can we get a link to your work thread in the first post? I had to do a bit of digging around to get to your thread.

I looked back and saw what you'd pulled off two years ago, and I've got to say I'm impressed about your work from back then. If you've been working on it over the last year and a half or so, I'm really looking forward to what all you can pull off now. Very unique, as well, since I don't recall having seen any 3D art for AE's games before (though it's not as if I'm a frequent poster in The Gallery).

Edit: Just found your link in your second post. I didn't see it since it was hidden within other text. Whoops.

Hmm yea, That link isn't too obvious, I'll change it x]

Anyway, The things I made back then aren't half as optimized as the models I make now. The thing is, back then I knew how to work with 3Ds Max(my 3D modeling package), but not specifically for games. Now I know how to make optimized models. The things I made before would only look like they do inside 3Ds Max, while I can make this work fine in just about any game engine.
Also not too sure about this, since I think the models are left on my old PC somewhere, but I think the judgement wheel I made back then has like double(or more) the amount of polygons that this whole set of armor has, which basically means that 100 of those weapons are equal to 200 technomancer models in a game.

I think that If I don't get the tablet problems sorted out today I might just do go with good old 2D texturing.

EDIT: I've updated my original post in the gallery to include a webplayer of the semi-finished Technomancer armor!

That looks amazing! I just wish I had Unity to view the one...Some screenies maybe?

I must say, you are very talented.

Thanks!

I could put up some screenshots.
However I highly recommend just installing the web player, as it is free, takes just about as much time to install as the flash player, and is being used by a lot of games already. Heck, even AQ3D is using it :P
If you don't know how to install it, there is supposed to be a big button on the screen in every unity web player, including the one used for the Technomancer.
Just click it and it should be rather self explanatory.

EDIT: Just added a little composition for those who really don't want Unity!
