I looked at the announcement time and when the prize code was actually released, and it was slightly disturbing me. Apparently the announcement for the code release time was given an hour and 15 minutes (approximately) before the actual code release. I believe this is quite unfair for some people because their timezones may not comply with a sudden warning, and they won't even know that there was an ultra-rare giveaway until the day after the announcement was even made! I would like to ask that the game makers try to announce stuff like this a day or earlier before the actual release of the code because a lot of players were deprived of the possibility of even getting this item because of their timezone and the sudden announcement.

Please discuss your thoughts and ideas on this request.

It's a freebie, no different to other weapon. And it was perfect amount - or maybe even too big - for an Ultra Rare item (Staff-only weapon). Limited deals are limited, you gotta sacrifice something in order to get something in return. It's just art anyway + personal attachment to the weapon for its rarity.

I agree that it needs to be announced sooner and it needs to account more for time zones,

I think the devs realize this now so it should be all fine for the next batch :)

That is if I dont wake up and find Ive missed it again. xD

Not sure about the Spoons but the Guns were announced like 3 hours before the actualy Code post
The 20h/17h = the hours since they posted, so the Warning 20 hours ago and the code 17 hours ago

Nightwraith‏@Nightwraith_ED (20h)

I won't be announcing the code until 6PM EST. I need to decide what to give!

quote:

Nightwraith‏@Nightwraith_ED (17h)

And the Code is: FILYERHAND

Well, I was referencing to the post on the forums, so that's my fault (Eventus posted it at 16:45-ish). Still, 3 hours is hardly fair to some people who may be working/sleeping and won't know until the day after the code was even given.

@LatinLover: I think the problem was that they didn't give people enough time to prepare (hence, they didn't say it earlier so I didn't know not to stay up an extra couple hours later), and I'm sure similar situations applied to many other people as well.

But it was Staff weapon and said to be limited + never seen before. Limited doesn't mean everyone will get it hence quantity of 500 only. It's Ultra Rare weapon as well. Ultra Rare =/= everyone will have it.

@below
It was 3 hours, not 15 minutes?

I agree, they need to announce it at least one day before the release.
I myself went offline just 5 minutes before the red bar showed up. A friend told me there would come a prize code but because i needed to go to bed i couldnt get it (my timezone is 6 hours ahead). So they pretty much screwed alot of people who werent online that time.

They need to announce this atleast 1 day before, so people with different timezone can still prepare for it.
Even if its a freebie and limited time, they cant just only announce it like 15 minutes before it can be redeemed.

@trans 500 is a very small amount, it wouldn't make a difference whether or not how many people got it or whether or not it was a staff rare because even though they gave such a short notice for the release, 500 pistols were still taken, with many other players left who could have gotten one because they were on at the time but they weren't fast enough.

EDIT: I see that eventus announced on the forums at 16:43, and said the code would be released the same day at 6:00 PM (18:00). Considering many players don't constantly check the design notes, and only check it a couple of times per day, many people would have been notified by the forums alone and nothing else.

Anyways, I'm just asking that next time something is going to be released via code like this, I'd ask the staff to give atleast a 24-hour warning beforehand so all players have a fair chance of getting it.

It's limited Staff weapon with Ultra-Rare status, it was meant to be low amount.

@trans: You're still not getting my point. Maybe I'll draw out a scenario:

There are 750 people labeled Person 1, Person 2, etc. who see the sudden and early announcement.

Person 1-500 get the rare, people 501-750 don't because they weren't fast enough.

IF the announcement had been released earlier (a day or so earlier):

There are now 1500 people labeled in the same fashion as mentioned before

Person 1-100, 300-400, 500-600, 800-900, and 1200-1300 get the 500 limited rares. See the difference? Those people labeled after 750 would have not gotten a chance because of time zones, but if they were notified earlier it would definitely make it fair for those other 750 people who didn't even have a chance with the first scenario.

@ exploding

The announcement was made 3 hours in advanace which was more then enough warning for people. Plus some people were waiting by a guard just before the code came out and with it only being 500 of them... there would be plenty of people who wouldn't get one.

I was in game when I saw all the spoons and there were players talking about it at 0z 7 as well so if you were there or following on twitter you would have caught the notice.

Apparently you're missing my point, sad to say. I think another scenario will help describe the problem:

Let's say...

The announcement was made at 1:00. I go to bed/go to work at 0:00. At work you're not allowed to do other things on the computer except work...
I get back from work 6 hours later or I wake up 6 hours later, BAM! Being unnotified, I wouldn't have known to stay up a few hours later to get the rare! Had the notification been released earlier, many more people would have known and it would have given more players a fair chance of getting the rare.

@LatinLover: Of course, that's how every game is. Unfortunately, I feel that this giveaway wasn't excecuted as best as it could have been so that the chances were fair for more people, and that's my main motive. "You can't get every wep" definitely applies here because there were only 500, but I find it just disheartening to know I didn't have even a chance of getting one, as well as many other members who could possibly have had a chance.

@superbat67: I'm trying to bring up a reasonable topic about something that could have been more fair to the players. Provocative words won't help anything. I'm not complaining because I want the item or I want something to change that already happened in the past. I'm bringing up this topic because I found this unfair to many players besides just me. The original point of this topic was to request that the staff try to make earlier announcements about such giveaways and other similar things, not to complain about how some people got it and others didn't.

I agree, devs should have waited at least 24 hours after posting a design notes post to give everyone a fair chance to get ready for the code. They don't release or give us anything for weeks and then they just suddenly decide to give out free valuable stuff like it's candy. :/

@ 8x

Normally they would not give warning when they dropped the codes period. They would just post them whenever and those who were following them would get them. So now that they decide to give warning you want them to wait a day to do so?

doesn't sound right to me especially since as I stated normally they just post the codes on twitter without warning not inform people about it.

A much larger amount of people would be disappointing about this if they announced it much earlier. Because if they did more people would know of it, and more people with the chance to get it couldn't have due to the small quantity of items available. And this was not supposed to be given to every player who wanted one. The giveaway was spontaneous and there would be a lot more complaining going around if a thousand extra people who were trying very hard to get it didn't.

I agree with this, just because it's Ultra-rare doesn't mean they have to write a DN 24 hours before they give out the code.

If they had announced it a day or two before, many more players would come.
Servers could get full, I believe. People would not be able to login, or have connection problems and disconnect. A much bigger reason to complain.
