I decided to change my sig (and corresponding link) but when I tried it, the url I used is said to be blocked.

The message I received said that it si inappropriate for AE forum users, but the curious thing is that it is to a game I went to (and started playing) via one of the ad that appeared while I was roaming the forums.

It is a rather safe and innocuous game, mostly a text based game, and I thought that since I went there from AE that it was safe to try to use the recruitment code in that game to get more people on my side.

I don't know if this is an oversight, or if there is another problem I am missing. I enjoy having my working sigs and try to link (within the rules) in them, after some much rather hard work creating each one.

It could be that it's from a mobile site. (Photobucket Mobile)

Try the link from the official website. Also, I am assuming you are talking about the link to the picture...Because that's the only one I found.

If not, would you mind attaching the link to a post so I can take a look at it?

EDIT: It looks like it won't allow any non-AE related websites. But you can go to Profile>Homepage, and link the site you want to to there.

Hope I helped!

This is what I was trying to link in my sig.

I used to have a link to a separate forum that involved Paxia but was not officially part of AE. That board is now dead.

If this can't be figured out, then I guess I'll change my homepage on my profile. Altho, I really like my linked siggys. I put alot of work into them.

It could be that the URL says 'bite' or 'fight'...

I dunno...mebbeh

Well, I haven't seen this happen before. Lots of places filter URLs, I am just going to say that's what it is.

Yeah, you're right, it's probably the fight part of it. Oh well.
I guess I'll just put it as my homepages and hpefully I get recruits.

Thanks for your help, OG!

In the case of the game you are mentioning, it's not so much the game content that was deemed inappropriate for the AE forums; it's the fact that the game encouraged a lot of viral "click here" links in people's signatures, and those ARE against our forum rules. As such, any attempt to link to that URL from our forums gets blocked.

The reason you could get to it from an ad that appeared on our forums is that our filters don't affect Google Ads; we manually police those for appropriateness.

oh, so the whole asking for recruits is what drove to this being banned.

Ok, so THAT makes a whole lot more sense. And I thought you guys had control over the ads. Now I know Thanks.

Just so I know ( and not breaking any rules) I put that recruiting link as my homepage, as suggested by Optional Geek, is this against the rules? If so, then I will promptly remove it. I been around these forums for ages and last thing I want is a ban over something I could readily avoid.

P.S.
Thanks again OG.

I can't seem to find it here...But I remember somewhere stating that you may not put recruitment links in a signature, but you can, however, set it as your homepage. It was not from an AK or Mod, so I am not entirely sure...

The rule Optional Greek is referring to is this one:

quote:

Signatures may not advertise any external content, nor may they contain referral links or any viral ("do this if") content. Advertising Slogans for Clans & Clubs based on these forums are permitted as long as they are not misleading (eg "Click Here To Join My Clan" is ok, but "click here" or "check this out" are not).

From the =AE= Comprehensive Forum Rules

ok, well my sig has been fixed, and that rule must be newer than my 2 1/2 year abscence a while back as we used to do this all the time when there was this little dragon thingie we (people in Paxia) used to use in our sigs and how we linked to other Paxia themed, non-ae forums... most of which are dead. At any rate, I'm just glad I didn't get banned for my previous sig. *whew*

Thank you all... Now I'm off to refresh over the rules.
