Your Quest

Help Loremaster Maya! Create artwork or write histories for Artix Entertainment’s monsters and villains! Wining entries will help us build the AE Encyclopedia Lorepedia (currently on AQ.com)!

How to Start Your Adventure

Take a look at one of Loremaster Maya’s first Bestiary pages, then get out and hunt up a monster or villain of your own to observe! http://www.aq.com/lore/monsters/Frogdrake

Ideas for artwork submissions include:

  • Draw
  • Paint
  • Illustrate
  • Photoshop
  • Sculpt
  • Craft
  • Bake
  • Sew and Stitch
  • Carve
  • Balloon Animals!

    Ideas for writing submissions include:

  • Details about where the monster/villain lives
  • Any unique behavior or identifying appearance details
  • What they’re good for after defeat
  • Any lore we already know about them (like the Bloodtusk Troll/Horc cultures)
  • Anything we DON’T know about them that doesn’t contradict what is already in-game

    So long as your submission is a monster and/or a villain from your favorite Artix Entertainment game, then you’re one step closer to winning the contest!

    Quest Requirements

    1. Read ALL THESE rules before submitting!

    2. This is not a suggestion contest, all of the entries must be based on monsters/villains that already exist in our games.

    3. All artwork must be original—absolutely NO tracing and NO stealing someone else’s artwork.

    4. Pictures must be at least 500px wide and in either .jpg or .png format.

    5. All writing must be original. If you use any existing in-game lore in an entry, you must add original ideas onto it.

    6. Written entries must be no longer than 500 words long.

    7. Entry must be inspired by a monster and/or a villain from an Artix Entertainment Game (AdventureQuest, MechQuest, DragonFable, AQW, EpicDuel, HeroSmash, OverSoul).

    8. You may use any form of media for your design (Pencil, Flash, MS Word, Notepad, cake mix, etc).

    9. You can include other Artix Entertainment characters alongside your monster, be it your player or a popular NPC like Warlic or Cysero.

    10. Post a valid link to your picture in the Comments section below in the Image URL field.

    11. Include the text of your writing entry in the Comments section text field.

    12. Only ONE Bad Guys & Good Battles contest submission will be judged per game account (although you CAN post more entries under each AE game account you own, so you can post one entry for your AQW hero, then another for your EpicDuel account, another picture for your DragonFable player, etc).

    13. You can enter artwork, OR writing, OR both. But only one entry total per game account.

    14. Your entry MUST include your Character Name AND which game your character belongs to. How else are we gonna award you if you win?

    15. Your entry MUST include the name of the monster/villain you created.

    16. Please please PLEASE only post once—it will take some time to approve your submission, so please don’t spam the Submit button!

    17. You will be automatically disqualified if you do not follow all the rules.

    18. We have the right to remove any entry that is unacceptable or inappropriate—so keep your entry safe for everyone to enjoy!

    19. And, most importantly, have FUN!

    Here’s your chance at wining awesome stuff in your favorite online game! The Bad Guys & Good Battles Contest prizes will be broken down by game, but since the Lorepedia encompasses ALL our games, we will award prizes in Artix Points!

    Additional prizes may be awarded to those who go above and beyond!

    The Bad Guys & Good Battles Contest begins today, July 2, 2013. Submissions will be accepted until July 10, 2013, at 11:59pm EST. Judging will ensue the following week, and prizes will be announced and delivered around that time too!

    Bavaria (Also known as Monica) is an Ale addict residing in the village. She is the Bartender at the Sleepy Wolf Inn. Bavaria can be easily recognized by her two ale cups she sometimes uses to defend herself, she also seems weak and delicate-looking. But don't let her fool you, she has most excellent fighting skills and if you get in the way of her and her ale, that means it is time for you to go. Bavaria's fighting skills mainly just involve throwing her Ale Cups.

    Sometimes, she goes up to the large boulders to think, there, she sometimes finds Oversouls which threaten her, forcing her to fight them. If Bavaria were to lose, the Oversoul would find that she is a great cook, as well as a great companion.

    The Blood Ranger wasn't always bent on destruction and causing pain to others, but it was the only way she could declare her feelings of rage, jealousy and determination. All she wanted was recognition, to have a say, but it was her sister who was always in the spotlight. Her sister was praised and congratulated often for her precision and dedication, but it was the Blood Ranger who had more power. Her sister eventually earned the title "Arcane Ranger". Not long after, She grew sick and tired of always doing second best, and being cast in to the shadows, and so decided to swear her allegiance to Suinotlim with a blood oath. What better way to spread her vengeance than with fear? You can't hide from fear; it's inescapable, just like her blood bolts. Her arrows are the message, and her bow, the messenger.

    A short biography and/or picture of the monster or villain

    In the dawn of creation in the realm known as oversoul, the great creator was busy at work. Not much is known about the creator except for when he finished creating the realm and filled it with life of all shape and form, he created the founders to be his emissaries as he laid to rest. Defenders of the realm as they are called, the founders were the primary guardians of oversoul. For a time, the influence of the founders was fading into obscurity, a new world was beginning and people started to forget the old ways. Upon the invasion of the archfiend nulgath and his army, once more do the founders take up arms and lead their charge to defend their realm. Masters of swordplay and harnessing the power of light, the founders fight with blinding speed and holy might. Not many have encountered one up close but those who do are considered blessed and fortunate, unless they end up on the sharp end of the founder's holy blade.

    		Char: They need to go through a approval pricess. If you can't see yours, just wait and it will be approved. Unless yours was inappropriate in which case it will have been deleted. If you mentioned anything that the fourm rules say not to mention that may be the base. But if not, then yeah, it's just waiting for approval.

    		Well it wasn't accepted, so wah. I think it was too advanced. ;-;

    Guess I'll have to choose another monster from Oversoul. I just want one that's interesting, but not easy to think of. Nulgath's Fiends are far to easy for something like this. Any ideas? I mean, I'm already working on one for AQ, so I should have a miniscule chance of winning. Besides, most of the entries are for AQW or ED anywho. :D

    Biography: The great necromancer started out as a simple mage.This mage had been learning for months, but he didn't seem to be getting anywhere. His master was telling him it was because he wan't patient enough, "But mages shouldn't have to be patient, right?" he thought to himself. "Yes they should be able to control the situation, and not have to wait, but be able to crush his enemies.So he rebelled against his strict master, and bought an ancient grimoire. The mage figured out he had a natural aptitude for the dark arts, and he learned very quickly. Within a month, he had already finished the grimoire, and starting a more advanced one. But his master had become worried, because his apprentice was becoming increasingly distracted, and his health was deteriorating rapidly. So, he disobeyed all of his personal rules of conduct, and visited the young mage's house. He was just about to finish summoning an undead for himself, when his master fell to his knees saying:" How could you have turned into this, are you already consumed by the darkness?" the master cried out.For the last time, the apprentice could turn back, repent his terrible deeds, or be further consumed by them, and destroy his master.The apprentice took out his master in a great rage, and the result was a wave of pure destruction as the first Lich in ages was able to wreak havoc again.The flesh melted away from the bones, leaving the deadliest figure at the time, unleashed, and already growing in power.

    		Oh are we showing our entries here too? Well ok, here's mine:

    Character Name: Beck
    Game: Oversoul
    Monster name: Ice Beetle

    Species:
    Ice Beetle is the most common of the frozen insects that populate the land of Oversoul. Although small, they can grow to a tremendous size, given time and battle experience. These giant beetles are then honored by their peers with the title "Cosoma". There are also rumors of Titans, Cosomas so powerful that they were granted indestructible battle armor as a sign of favor by the Dark Apprentice Revontheus...

    Habitat:
    Ice Beetles live in a vast underground network of ice tunnels underneath the entire Northern Lands. They can be encountered anywhere where there is snow, though rumor has it that the Icy Cave, the most prominent opening to these ice tunnels, is guarded by Cosomas...

    Behavior: What they lack in size, they make up for in heart. Ice Beetles are tenacious little critters, always looking for a challenge. Some have even been known to challenge Black Dragons to demonstrate the might of their horns.

    Miscellaneous
    The most feared technique amongst the Ice Beetles is their Freeze ability. Observers have noted that in battle, their first instinct is always to Freeze, then Shatter their opponents defenses.
