hello, I am Master Smasher, new to the forums but not to the game. I have a suggestion that will definitely help with balance problems in ED. from time to time, classes have constantly faced diversity problems, all the way from the heal looping mages, to the 2v2 master mercenary and the shadow art hunters. These are builds that dominated through out ED, through the eras. The point of the game is STRATEGY and BUILD DIVERSITY through the style of turn-based pvp. The staff have done a marvelous job with the game but there is still problem that still linger. Right now, many builds are very over powering, the infamous 2-hit combo/malf builds that tech mages use, the str builds hunters use, the ultra support mercs and the fast-paced playing style of the cyber hunter. The fact that these builds are very, very difficult to counter, they have become the most popular and most powerful builds ED has to offer. In my view, this is not acceptable. In all honesty, the point of having these builds is to use strategy but to use spam attacks and to dump points into a single stat is not, but this is not surprising since we have to make use of 12 skills which really isn't the best foundation for build diversity or even strategy for that matter. Battles have to mean something, skill has to be in full value, power management (collecting and using weapons/utilities) is what needs to be included. My suggestion, how about increase the amount of skills each and every class has (like, from 12 skills to 30 skills), so that way there are other ways to compensate for these builds that rule Epic Duel. By doing this, many combinations and greater build diversity will be available. Now creating the skills with be the hard part and even though this isn't a guaranteed solution, it will dramatically change the balance of the game, I would love to elaborate but I have to hit the hay sack, please I would appreciate your feed

i agree with you 100% there needs to be more skills but with new skills comes more levels for player to obtain.

thank you, now I have woken up and tis ready to elaborate. As I said there has to be more skills so that way there can be other builds that can compete with other builds. Lets take the STR Bounty Hunter build. This usually has a mid-high smoke screen, high-max blood lust and a low-high massacre and is usually a glass cannon type. The point of that build it is to gain hp every time you attack and to keep a constant pace when you do so, and after 3 turns, you use massacre to deliver the kill shot. Very effective build to use on general and has little counters (unless you can remove the mana which removes massacre, remove smoke screen and decrease the STR, but doing all of this requires a mercenary or any other classes that has the ability to do this with the required skills, which is unlikely). Now lets say the mercenary gains 2 new skills. 1 decreases life steal/leech(thus weakens bloodlust) and the second removes STR and disables 1 debuff skill for a # of turns. By only using 2 skills the STR hunter is neutralized. Now lets use a tech mage, lets give it a skill that allows it to stun the opponent the greater the STR, the more likely and to reduce damage taken according to the amount of STR, the more STR, the more of a debuff. This will again weaken the STR hunter with only 2 skills! But wait, using my example would this make the STR Hunter a almost useless build? but this where more skills goes in, the hunter may be given skills to counter those skills that weaken him, so that means the hunter is back on the top right? but what if the mage and merc has skills to disable those skills, but the hunter has skills that will do also, this creates endless chains of builds that will be more diverse.....

doing this right now is near impossible, usually chains of skills only last up to 2 and rarely 3 skills. e.g. smoke screen -(this means counter) defense matrix
an example of a 3 skill chain is intimidate-blood commander-field commander

by introducing more skills, these skill chains will happen more often (the skill factor is now in place) and strategy will occur on how to use skills in battle and how to create builds

let me add on that if this idea is carried, skills will be nerfed less often...

This would also help with my suggestion of raising level cap by more than 1. As I said here http://forums2.battleon.com/f/tm.asp?m=21169318

very true, as the more skills gain, the higher the level is required
