I meant, focus is slightly OP. And I did say numbers can change. This is why - focus builds can have good defense, and any skill attack power is balanced out by the robot boost. In flexible builds, you either depend on too much energy or you give up a huge amount of attack power, that can easily be countered. So, while the difference rendered isn't much, it can give you quite a lot of help. For eg - A Tech Abuse Mage vs A 5 focus Blood Mage - The TM can dish out huge damage with plasma bolt. The BM can easily heal and with BL, he can regain a lot of health. While the mage waits 2 turns for rage PB, The Blood mage can easily convert the Mage's Weak defense into A Farming ground with his bot/ Blodgeon, while his Secondary and primary are weakened by intimidate. So for that huge power Plasma bolt, the Mage needs to give up defense. Thus, for any build to be successful, it needs to have some amount of Focus. Else you will only win against similar builds. Of course, flexible builds can beat Focus in several cases, the main ratio of power lost to power gained is not proportionate. Thus, it needs to be balanced out. Another example is this. The reason why BH are said to be OP is because of the synergy between 5 focus strength builds, which only 2 classes can actually counter.
