This skill would replace assimilation.

Decimation would work by using the same animation as assimilation. The skill would drain 10% of the opponents base energy, ignoring a % of defenses, would be blockable, but the energy draining would not be. Heres how it would scale. Not sure the energy costs yet, or cooldown. The % for defense ignored is still also undecided. Would do anywhere from 85-100% damage of strike.

Decimation Level 1: Drain 10% opponents base energy/Ignores 10% of Defenses
Decimation Level 2: Drain 10% opponents base energy/Ignores 11% of Defenses
Decimation Level 3: Drain 10% opponents base energy/Ignores 12% of Defenses
Decimation Level 4: Drain 10% opponents base energy/Ignores 13% of Defenses
Decimation Level 5: Drain 10% opponents base energy/Ignores 15% of Defenses
Decimation Level 6: Drain 10% opponents base energy/Ignores 17% of Defenses
Decimation Level 7: Drain 10% opponents base energy/Ignores 19% of Defenses
Decimation Level 8: Drain 10% opponents base energy/Ignores 21% of Defenses
Decimation Level 9: Drain 10% opponents base energy/Ignores 23% of Defenses
Decimation Level 10: Drain 10% opponents base energy/Ignores 25% of Defenses

I think it's a great idea, but it also seems a little OP. If it trains 10% and goes through that much defense, a high strength tech mage can easily burn all of someone's energy, alongside the damage he will do (you did not state if it would do 100% damage).

The amount will stay at 10% being drained, it will not increase. The only thing being increased is the % of defenses ignored. Cooldown I'm not sure of. 2-3 turns perhaps. Thinking Of 85% or 90% damage.

Nope not supported. The drain itself is too weak especially since hardly anyone invests in energy due to having so much. If I were to use this move I would only be draining 6-7 energy at best in PVP battles, and would only have use for it in boss battles.

If this move got put into the game as it is, anyone hoping to counter with energy drains would be hard pressed since they would only be able to drain 6-7 energy. buff the percents of the drain to maybe 30-40% and maybe I can support this.

But then it couldn't be called decimation. =s Decimating means to destroy 1/10 of... I realized that 1/10 isn't a lot, so that's what the % of defenses ignored is for.

@ gearzheadz

and even with that it is weak. The original assimilation was buffed because people complained it was too weak. This skill right here even with the defenses ignored part is even weaker than the original assimilation.

As it is now Assimilation is used for 2 things

1 To drain energy from your opponents to add to your own
2 to counter your opponents and keep them from using their energy moves in the right situations.

While number one isn't an issue due to mages having dead battery, number two will be and issue.

Not everyone uses Assimilation for getting energy back. Others use it for reason number 2, and even with the energy drain being unblockable, the amount of energy being drained is too dependent od your opponent's energy total.

It won't be an effective counter for Tech mages needing to drain energy, and this move looks like it is more about damage than it is about doing what it is suppose to do which is remove energy. As I pointed out before this move would only be useful in boss battles since they have massive amounts of energy. Most players wouldn't even bother to use this move unless they were going into a boss fight.

That's somewhat the point of it, is to make it weaker in one way, stronger in another... Techies don't really need ways to gain energy atm, since they have battery. But I do see your point about the energy drainage. It seems that assimilation is too powerful now with the battery backup with its no cost and efficient drain/gain abilities. This is about damage as well, you are correct, damage being higher would be a compensation form. What if the drain could critical strike and do double the drained amount?

And maybe for the fact of you saying that they need to drain energy, if this skill is implemented, would swapping fire scythe and energy leech be more helpful?

@ gearzheadz

Look at all the energy draining moves and look at assimalation. The differences between them is that all those remove energy while Assimalation does damage and remove energy. Which is why the drain is weaker to compensate for that.

However even with the move doing damage it is mainly used for the two reasons I pointed out to gain energy and to drain energy to counter their opponents.

As for swapping parasite drain for fire scythe not a good idea. Why because then tech mage would have 3 ways of getting back energy.

Battery back up, Parasite drain, and this new move.

Remember all three of these have one thing in common they drain/give energy and I can see the masses complaining about Tech mage being really OP since they have 3 ways to gain energy and 2 ways to drain them warrant both ways to drain are weak.

A better solution would be to put Assimilation energy gain back to the way it originally was. Meaning you only get half of what you drain. This way those casters who drain your energy would get 6-8 energy at best with it at max, effectively nerfing them, and other builds that aren't caster mages will still have an effective energy drain.

Oh, this move wouldn't the energy being drained. It would have one way to drain/gain, parasite, one way to drain, this move, and one way to gain, battery back-up.

Not Supported, the current skill is already good enough the way it stands.

Scar, its not that it isn't good enough, its that its a little too powerful now. I do like Mother1's idea of assimilation only regaining half of what it drained though.

^That's actually what the old assimilation used to do. The reason why it was considered weak was because strength did not increase its effectiveness. It was ONLY based on level.

^I know, Mother1 suggested we change it back to the old way of returning half energy, but scaling with strength, which I support.

@ GearzHeadz: The only way it could be considered powerful is the fact that Tech Mages have two skills to regain their energy, rather than that this new skill is not needed.
