Here is where the recent stat changes can be discussed. If you have questions about the new changes, or advice to players, or simply want to suggest builds or get advice on them, this is the place to do it.

The rules:
Constructive criticism is not an option. If you wish to share why you do or do not care for the new changes, that is encouraged. If your entire post is complaining, it will be removed.
This is a discussion thread. If it devolves into a list thread, it will sadly need to be locked. Suggest some builds, yes. But also discuss other builds, or even your own as you do.
This is not a place to suggest future state changes. Please limit suggestions to possible builds that work with how stats currently work.

I think that we will need to work much on stats when comes new Inn Challenges because if the next week be one with need for ranger again, my stats for BSW will be almost useless..

The build I tended to use could be described as offensive Rage Dragonlord with Protection pet dragon as support. What I need is a stat build that can allow for a good amount of damage with RDL while also maximizing the effectiveness of a pet dragon that is only trained in Protection.
What I had in mind is that I would put a majority of points into STR for the damage and INT primarily for the the glancing blow damage reduction to be used in conjunction with the shield skill a Protection dragon can use. I will also need to make sure that the dragon will use its skills often enough that its useful and I hear that CHA and LUK affect this but I request someone to explain the specifics.

Thanks in advance.

Deathnight, Level 69, gonna be 70 in like, half an hour tops.

Int 200, Wis 10, End 130.

Equipment is Falwyn's friendship bracer and the full Deathknight set

I like damage and I like not dying--I particularly like th Dark Rite skill, which as damage proportionate to either your HP or End and comparable healing.

From what we know of the stats so far, if I like big damage numbers and I like HP, is there a better stat distribution? Or would I be better of going full-offensive(which I'm guessing would be max int and a majority of the remaining points in strength) or defensive(which I'm guessing would end and Luck)

As it is, under the new system the build I have now brought me closer to beating the Legion Crawler than I've ever gotten before.(so I'm happy with the change)

I'm looking for if there are any major changes to how the DmK, Doomknight, stat build is done.
It was recommended to me that DEX would be good for the Corruption->Lingering Doom to boost the DoT effect but I personally feel that wouldn't be too great as it's perhaps the only DoT DmK has unless the enemy is a Golem where Ciorruption also applies one. I think that the stats can be put to better use but I am unsure as what stat would give the most benefit.
Current build is 200 WIS, 100 LUK, 120 END from before the stat changes
Any suggestions?

I've been doing some testing and it seems that Rogues get the short stick for this update.

Using Soulforged Dagger (98-98 weapon range) and DL's basic attack
220 DEX deals 141
200 STR deals 118
220 DEX and 200 STR deals 150

The bonus from STR doesn't show up in the status screen. Since we don't have scythes for everything (but we got DDSoE for majority of the elements and NecroParagon Soulblade for Bacon), dagger-using rogues may still want to use DEX unless you have DDSoE and NPSB.

Scythe is the new meta. You read it here first

Well, I’d say these are a blessing mre than a curse. I know quite a few people dislike the stat changes, but I hope threads like this one spark some creativity. For instance, the underpowered Ninja and Pirate classes may be useful now—Ninja goes well with Dexterity (DEX) because of its DoTs and Strength (STR) due to Catalyst that boosts them and Pirate goes well with Intelligence (INT) due to many of its skills being B/P/D skills, especially Backstab which makes it so that you can reflect damage well and take none. I love these changes!

Rn for Rage DL lvl 72 I have 145 STR, 100 INT, 50 END, and 60 WIS (All not including gear boosts)

It does the job well and does a good job tanking with patience DL but, I just wish blinds were as effective as they used to be, they're pretty much useless now.

Edit: I tested this on Gelungius and it was doing pitiful dmg with the shield up but, that wasn't enough to deal with its sheer amount of dmg so I was left with like 400 hp by the time the fight was done. I suspect I would have been left with at least 1200 hp if blinding was effective.

Scythe-only Ascendants are the new meta offense build?
Okay but here's a more serious question, I want to run 200 INT/150 STR/70 WIS (excluding item bonuses) for my build. Is that much WIS overkill or am I fine with it, if my preferred classes are Ascendant, ACC, IBR, Deathknight and Baltael MSW (and DmK v2 - which I'm trying not to use, so it's just permanently storaged).

What are your item bonuses? Memory tells me that ACC (assuming Ascended Chickencow since I'm not 100% with DF class abbreviations) and Deathknight can be mana-intensive classes, so the WIS bonuses could make the difference.

^Yeah, Ascended Chickencow. Currently (the char is my secondary, and only lvl 56) 5+24 STR, 200+34 INT, 0+19 LUK, 0+32 END, 70+31 WIS.

I'll farm for better equips later but currently I'm just playing the story so my equips are just stuff I got dropped .

I have a level 85 doomknight, and my current stats are STR 200, END 100, LUK 20, WIS 100. What adjustments should I make to this build? Or maybe share your new build after the latest patch if you also have doomknight

Fair enough.

70 WIS at level 85 would put you on a total of 870 mana. Assuming that you would have more than 31 WIS bonus at this level, I'd say this amount is ok for your classes. I can't be certain about IBR or DmKv2 though since I've never had them, but the latter is probably not a concern if it's staying in the bank anyway.

Yeah, DmK is probably the least concern. I'd only take it out for a quest that I struggle with on all my other armors (and because my main was lazy and farmed all kinds of expletives out of DmK v1/v2 .)

Thanks.

Is there an updated post somewhere that lists exactly what every stat does?

Edit: I mean, a full list of every stat and everything they do (not just the updates), it would be nice to have as a quick reference.
Getting back into Dragonfable (as per usual ever 3 months or so) and trying to remember everything is tedious
and the in-game pop-up doesn't give the exact numbers

I'm a big fan of the new stat changes. I think they promote a much wider variety of possible builds than what was possible before! It's always good to have nuanced choices in how you want your character to feel, especially since we can now have different players playing the same class in very different ways (Dex vs Int Dragonlord for instance), and older classes (like Ranger) are more viable!

@Plendamonda - I found this guide on DragonFable Stats in the Guides section of the forum. I don't know for sure how many stat updates have happened since the guide was last updated, but it may be a good place to start!

Stat changes from this weekends update (that I'm 90% sure have not been added into the above guide) include:

quote:

LUK:
No longer increases base damage.
No longer increases critical hit damage.
Increases melee/pierce/magic defenses instead of block/parry/dodge.

STR:
Increases Immobility resistance by 20% of STR.
Increases stat bonus damage by (STR/5)%, multiplicative.
For example, at 250 STR, the stat bonus damage will be 50% greater.

DEX:
Increases Bonus by 20% of DEX.
Increases DoT damage (not including heals) by (DEX/10)%, multiplicative.

INT:
Increases Critical Hit damage by (INT/10)%, additive.
This is the same as the old LUK bonus!
Reduces glancing blow damage by (INT/10)%, additive.
For example, at 250 INT, glancing blows will do 0 damage!
The goal of these changes is to add much more variety to stat builds, while also reducing and refining the effectiveness of LUK. LUK is now about all or nothing- buffing direct hit chance (bypassing defenses), buffing MPM (bypassing damage), and buffing crit rate (bypasing BPD), and not so much about damage. This brings it more in line with CHA as a secondary stat.

STR, DEX, and INT recieved major effects to further cement them as primary stats. There are tons of interesting combinations to play with and explore! I hoped to make some old classes more viable with this, as well as adding more variety to builds.

I have MSW, and I am currently using a build of 100 STR/INT/DEX with 50 END and 70 WIS. I like it because with all my equipment I still have 1300 mana and 2400 health, and it balances out my offensive skills pretty well.

WIS should just be between 20-50 for majority of the classes since you'll be getting at least 40 WIS from appropriate gear alone.
But for heavy mana-heavy classes, at least 50-70 WIS should be safe.

Also, Ranger has been indirectly buffed by this update. Since Ranger benefits from having STR and DEX equal, Ranger will have higher damage and better DoT since Viper has low CD. It's way better than DEX/LUK Ranger before. Although I haven't run actual calculation yet if DEX/INT would deal higher damage.

Yes, as I’ve stated in the actual GD thread of this update, Ranger has to be one of the classes that benefits the most. I wanna find out if Pirate and Ninja can beat a strong boss or two...

Here’s my quote, if any of you’re wondering:
quote:

The ranger has to be the one bathing in chocolate here. If you prefer to use DEX, well, not only do all your Bow/Arrow skills do a lot of damage, but Viper’s Arrow literally does 200+ per turn, and you get a +5% additional PowerBoost. If you choose STR, immobility resistance, how can you resist that? Youcan get amazing Resistance with the level 75 Slimy Necklace. And both... Additional DoT Damage and Immobility Resistance? +15% PowerBoost? Ranger has to be my new fave offensive class. This makes recommending Stat builds so much easier on me. I have to check, however, if it can beat the Primordials now...

Oh, and what’s better, I can safely recommend investment in DEX for the Dream Duo to take out Sporca, the Swift due to the BtH buff!

Edit:
Also, for those who are upset about the LUK debuff, don’t be! Actually, since you’ll be investing in a primary stat, you get buffs from that as well. Also, does anyone know how much WIS increases healing? Does it affect HP healing, too? Thanks!

Plus, INT has been made pretty powerful, now. However, STR and DEX are amazing, too. I guess that these stat changes are just so good that everyone will just... eventually grow into them!

Monday Updates!

quote:

Hey there, Heroes!

Some Monday changes to stats! Yay!

Engine Version 12.2.36

Adjusted:

DEX now reduces glancing blow damage by (DEX/10)%, additive.
DEX no longer increases Bonus to Hit.
DEX now increases DoT damage by DEX/5 damage, instead of a multiplicative percentage.

The goal of this change is to make it more useful for most DoTs, while not as overwhelming for super high damage DoTs. If you train DEX, and your class has any DoT at all, this should make those skills worth using. Damage is subject to change, as classes and builds that can apply a lot of DoTs at once get extremely buffed by this.

INT now increases Bonus to Hit by INT/10.
INT no longer reduces glancing blow damage.

This change is intended to lower the ubiquity of INT being entirely non-situational.

LUK now increases crit by LUK/10, previously LUK/20.
Buffing up LUK's utility a bit by giving it more crit rate.
An example- if you have 200 LUK, you will now gain an additional 20 crit. that is, 10% crit chance.

Remember, stat retraining only costs a total of 1001 gold until this Friday!

"Also, does anyone know how much WIS increases healing? Does it affect HP healing, too? Thanks!" Where was this said? I know about the stat guide but I looked at Ash's 2015 update and it said nothing about HP healing from Wis, just that it was reduced to +5 per point. Can you please find a source for this?

@Caststarter, I checked this in the Stat Trainer, it said that WIS is supposed to increase healing. I was talking to Sir Render, if it matters...

Although DEX no longer increases BtH, it definitely ramps up the defenses of Pyro, IBR and Ninja, the last one definitely having a ton of skills in favour of B/P/D. Also, I beleive the DEX/INT swap was kind of sensible, too. I mean, Dexterity is what technically should reduce glancing damage, I’m in favour of this. The BtH makes sense, too, because spells are more likely to hit than melee attacks due to some spells being tracking ones (though not necessarily in DF)

Also, the buff to LUK has to be fair enough of a compensation for the loss in damage, obviously justifying it. It works by decreasing total damage output (by a little) but increasing the chance of more damage. Again, in favour off this. This has to be the most productive week this month. Thsi also means that Primordials kinda got a nerf (but not a huge one) here, which is amazing.
