So, currently I am a Merc and loving it, but Static Smash requires a Club, so if I don't want to sacrifice a major part of my build I have to use one.
And yet there are so many cool swords that I have I just want to use them all so bad, but it would destroy my build like I said. Same with Assimilation for Mages and Atom Smash for TM's.
So why not get rid of the requirements on the skills so they're on par with CH's and BH's energy drains.
I don't see how this could possibly hurt ED and I think it would be a great change, but what are your thoughts?
Do you agree or disagree and why?

I think we would see lots more variety of weapons if this was implemented.
Thanks in advance for reading this!

P.S. Happy New Year!

Happy New Year to you, and the rest of the forumites as well!

Skills that have weapon reqs actually get a boost in power. There was some discussion about this before, and some people stated that if Static Smash lost it's weapon req it would take a loss in power to probably around 50%. Same for Mages and TMs, but they have Battery Backup so it's not a big deal. Merc is forced to use a club, which I don't agree with, but I want to keep the 75% and not have it drop.

Also if you look at the other energy drainers they all have something that compensates them having the weapon required.

Static Smasher returns the most energy out of all of the energy drainers which compensates for it having it's club requirement
Atom Smasher can destroy the most energy out of all the energy drainers which compensates for it's club requirement
Assimilation unlike the other drainers actually gives rage and inflicts damage to the opponent which compensates for it's staff requirement.

But when Assimilation gets blocked, you gain more Rage - plus, even if it gets blocked, it still gets the job done by draining Energy.

500*110% = 550 energy , highest drain , yet blockable.

on the other hand make surgirical and double strike and berzerker and poison grenade have a club req , and on top of that weaken static smash , trust me you wouldn't want that.

both ch and bh have no nukes on sword which is why you see them relying on aux and robot .

atom smash is stupid because if you invest into str to make it decent you lower your defence and increase its block chance. Also if it does get blocked you dont gain the rage advantage.

@roman

Wow, that's a really good point.

@OP

I think swapping the requirements on Surgical and Static S would be a good idea to improve diversity.
