Why noone using mercenary ?

 I just started to play again and you can clearly see noone using mercenary, everyone has focused on mages and bounty hunters, i want to know why is that ? is mercenarys low characters, i dont know ? Thanks for your posts, regards...

Answer to that one is simple. Thanks to the staffs last couple of balance changes Bounty hunter and Tech mage have are the classes with the flavor of the week builds. Mercenary while not bad doesn't have one so the masses are switching classes to abuse said builds from these classes.

 Its annoying, if this goes like that i ll change my class too, i spent too much varium to my mercenary but i cant see any balance, i played whole day today i only saw 3 mercenarys, there is something wrong.

 Nothing is wrong. People prefer fast kill builds which can be easily abused, whilst other classes may slightly underperform and require a bit more thinking. With right combination of items, some classes will end up being superior by a lot.

Amount of players has nothing to do with balance. Whether something is overused or underused, that's up to the player. We could have 2 classes - one creative and one abusable - and make them perfectly balanced. Which one would players pick? Abusable one, because less thinking is required thus faster wins, instead of trying to be a bit more creative and using your brain.

Overused =/= overpowered.

 its impossible to see 40 lvl mercenary, all of them changed class i just still thinking there is a something wrong with mercenary, you are telling mercenary requires brain so all of them were idiot that they changed class ? i just dont know brother....

actually I have a friend in game who plays as a mercenary and they are at the cap. The person is actually a good merc at that.

But it isn't that it takes a brain to use any class. The problem lies with once something is found. That is how the game goes sadly

1 A powerful build is found
2 people copy said build
3 said build becomes overused
4 players who don't want to use said build but can't beat it complain
5 staff does balance changes making said build less effective
6 A formally balanced build that was kept in check due to said former build takes the old builds place
7 repeat steps 1-6

That is balance with epic duel in a nutshell.

Right now it is TM and BH. Tomorrow it could be CH or mercenary.

 Because the merc class is hard countered by blocks while other class have a 100%-connect skills.

 in 2v2 apear many mercenarys also lv 40

people are not only using the same build but also the same items.

black abbys battlegear E
azreal gun P
azreal aux E / the aux with portable gate E.

mercenary is actually the one right under bhs and tms in the game currently especially in 2 vs 2 as the skills are strong.
but as the class isn't a baby class like tm it needs more skill to use as there are very little amount of thinkers who create a working build , so don't expect to see alot of ppl using it.

 in 2v2 the merc hybrid armor force everybody alternate the target, and static smash work very good.

Most of us Mercs mainly 2v2 or jugg. Why? Simply because we are good at tanking. That's basically all we're good at. When I enter a 2v2 battle, I have no intention to attack. I always play defensive. First I pop Hybrid, give my partner blood commander, then intimadate. I also use the assualt bot for debuffing. What im saying is that Merc more of a defensive class. So you won't see much of it in 1v1.

 merc with blood commander, a low-skill point zerker and maul skill tree and hatchling rush is pretty effective from the mercs that I've played against.

They're just unnoticed but it could be the next big build because it does work.

Mercs are incredibly popular at the beginning of the game, because beginners judge aesthetically (personally I don't like the beefy Merc). But since TM's and BH's trash (most low levelers are competent, and many are veterans who have started an alt) Mercs with early energy regen tank and quick damage builds, most Mercs give up early. Not many make it to the higher levels. But believe me, those who do don't go unnoticed. Today I screenshotted the first legendary Merc I have seen, Dolly5555. I recently started 2 new Merc alts myself because of the rarity and found it to be not so rare, but simply hard to play and level.

I recently noticed, for an unknown reason (Mercs haven't been buffed, at least, not substantially just bug fixes) that Mercs are growing in popularity. I fought 3 Mercs in a row, which hasn't happened in a few months. This was at level 32 as well.

I've been using mercenary for some time now. I can say it's not that bad of a class as some may think. High hp and str works in 1v1 but then that's true for almost every class.

Honestly, i wanted to rock on with an tactical merc/regular merc for a while!

Got some build ideas & etc, but i am just low on varium, so i am saving for when i get more to spend it on. :)

I am level 40 mercenary on my main. I use high health strength with Black Abyss Club and Max Berzerker. It's not that great in 1v1 because there are so many strength tech mages and strength builds in general out there that it's pretty much who ever gets the first move wins. Also, block is a real problem in many case which is a pretty frustrating part about being a mercenary. But then again, pretty much every class out there struggles against strength tech mages and bad luck, so I'd say mercenaries aren't even that bad at 1v1. In 2v2, I use Hatchling Rush + max Berzerker which almost guarantees a kill in the first two or three turns if the target has medium to low health which is why mercenaries are quite good for 2v2. I guess there are so few high level mercenaries because the class has had a pretty long history of being a weak class ever since Delta and people just want to copy all the strength tech mage builds out there because there are so many of them. In my opinion, however, mercenary is probably one of the better of the six classes these days even if it isn't the best.

TLM sadly lost some of its most fun builds. I used to run hybrid heal loop with IA using a high-level frenzy and level 3-4 field medic back in the beginning of omega, but IA got nerfed hard (bots did in general), and so did the resistance boost from technology.

As for a direct answer to the original poster's question, it's because Merc lacks a strong metagame and endgame since all its most reputable moves like zerker and bunker require a decent amount of EP to use, and it's hard to attain that amount when all EP drainers are 3 turn cooldowns or less (except for parasite), making you easy fodder for energy feeding.

Actually, Static Smasher is quite good for energy regain except that it's blockable and skips your turn which is bad if you're a strength build. In fact, mercenaries are probably the best at energy regain besides tech mages and tactical mercenaries. However, I agree that mercenary skills do have a rather high energy cost which makes battles unpredictable because your strategy changes if you are unable to use some of your most powerful energy costing skills. Most people don't want to think very hard while battling which makes mercenaries hard to use and discourages people from changing to it.

Merc is a good (best in terms of support if used correctly) 2vs2 class because of hybrid armor. 1vs1, not so much.
