Every class in the game has had an OP that was nerfed. Merc had the maul plus the berserker. BH had the strength build. BM had the fireball, bludgeon, and blood lust going. CH had the really good static charge. Merc had the support build and Tac merc had smoke, surgical strike and big time tank. All these builds were considered OP and nerfed to the point that they are not useable. What other OP builds are missing? Maybe we just bring back all the OP builds and just have an "Epic Duel".

Nothing can compete with the orignal TLM skill tree.

If I had to make the perfect skill set for a class disregarding balance entirely it would come close to the old TLMs.

All the synergy is just silly , technician smoke surgical hybrid.
Reroute frenzy maul double strike smoke atom smash.
Hybrid frenzy technician surgical toxic
Rerote smoke artillery heal loop

Which only just touches on the synergy of some builds.

Constructive!

Here's a few more:

BH, smoke massacre - focus introduced
TM tech build (technician, bolt, rain) - bolt changed to dex and damage reduced for bolt
TM heal loop - agility introduced, field medic cooldown increased
TM str/support - stat progressions increased

There are more, Alpha stage had some OP builds too, I hear Diamond Blades was a tad OP :P

I'll tell you my own builds that were nerfed. The only OP build I ever copied was probably the support merc back in beta.
The Field commander+berserk Merc just before stat diminishments were introduced along with the berserk "nerf". (depended on situations, it buffed lower strength build's berserk while took high strength build's damage lower)
The reflex boost+ 2x multi-shot build w/ the occasional stun grenade. <---- this is now impractical because the energy returning ability of reflex boost has been removed, along with the full-powered multi, and how skills decreased in power with stat investment.
The dex+support stun and rage aux mage back when people get more damage when they were stunned.
...there's quite a bit more but I forgot them
I'm pretty sure I "invented" the second build I named. It became very popular after I started using it.

I used it too, didn't see anyone ever make it before I did. I just used it out of inspiration from dex mages.

high energy mercenary from early delta era. I have 160-173 energy and tech abusive. Over 95% win ratio. Best day is 98% win ratio. Only works rare goods. Very hard to copy this that time. (basically imbosible. Thanks to rare goods)

end of that era this build was 70-90% win ratio. depend totally what enemy is.

I remember OP cyber hunter too. emps and energy gaining is OP sometimes.
in particular, the endless heal. extreme Tank cyber hunter whit emps and energy gain move. i forgot that skill name

@Gearz I'm pretty sure mage multis scaled on tech back then.

I'd have to say BH Focus before evolved classes came out. The only class holding blood lust gained +5 damage on all attacks (old focus bonus that was quickly removed for obvious reasons), meaning that each attack healed an additional 1+ HP at high enough levels of blood lust. Not to mention that if you focused into tech your EMP and smoke were very strong as well, which synergized with a strong physical bot like gamma bot.

To briefly throw some OP delta builds out:

Strength BM (Zerker Version)
Dex Tank CH (2v2 heal loop possible up to turn 30+)

Just found the most overpowered hunter builds in ED history in my photobucket, forgot about them. Both achieved consistent 98%+ win rates.

With that 5 focus not only did you obliterate everybody elses energy and have hard counters to every single thing except poison (but poison wasn't dangerous at all to it anyway), but you could gamma bot twice in a row (regular then special) with +5 damage and old high robot damage numbers.

I just realized how the Devs are slow with balancing the game. These OP Builds remained in the game too long for months, sometimes even a year before the devs actually did something to balance them. Whether intentional or not I am curious about.

Yup, I remember the support focus BH that was surprisingly strong. Massacre at level 1 still hit 50+ most of the time too back then.
