Replace Power Hour with "Lucky Wins"

I suggest to remove Power Hour and replace it with randomly occuring double XP/Credits
in all duel modes which I call "Lucky Win". The win screen could be decorated with clover
leaves and gold coins.

As Power Hour occurs in 2 hours from 24 hours which is 8,3% of a day, the lucky random
bonus should be about the same percentage to compensate replaced power hours.
Change it to 5% 10% as its a more clear number and because the most players are not
able to attend two power hours a day. Instead of double exp/credits it has to be quadruple
rewards. See comparison and calculations below in this thread.

The reason for my suggestion is that Power Hour grants a huge 200% bonus for only those
players that are able to play during that time which is a disadvantage for players that cannot
attend Power Hour. But to attend a Power Hour you have disadvantages in real life time
management which is very uncomfortable. So you always have to make decisions about
if you want to get the Power Hour bonus or if real life has more priority. In other cases
players just cannot play during Power Hour because they have to work or do something
else that keeps them away.

Players should be able to play whenever they want without having any advantages or
disadvantages like it occurs with Power Hour. This does make their time management and
ED playing experience way more flexible and I think also more enjoyable.

Supported great idea.

Perhaps they should incorporate the same sort of random system when giving prize codes.

I don't support this..
Hardcore players still benefit from this, and casual players would have to play lots of games to benefit from this, which defeats the purpose of 'casual'.

Hey, I made some calculations to show you the differences between the current Power Hour system and my
suggested Lucky Win system because Mother1 brought up the argument that the Lucky Win system would favour
hardcore players. Well this is true but not as bad as you might think as harcore players still have a much worse
efficiency than casual 2-3 hour players because of NPCs wins.

I was wrong about the 5% luck chance. My calculations show that its has to be a 10% chance for a lucky win
with 4x rewards in both experience and credits to compensate a removed Power Hour system. This is because
with the Power Hour system you just can play 2 hours a day to get 100 NPC wins with an average of +50%
rewards. The Lucky Win system instead is boosting constantly by +30% in average.

The assumption of my calculations is that every player does 100 NPC wins a day which get splitted into 50 Power Hour
wins and 50 without. 50 NPC wins in an hour are possible with 7-8 turn wins at a 95-100% win rate. Its also possible
to make builds that can defeat NPCs in just 5 turns but this does not represent the average player.
Further assumption is that an average player (50% win chance) can do 20 1vs1 wins in an hour.

As you can see the Lucky Win system is more linear (double ammount of wins = double rewards) while the Power Hour
system rewards less active players much more than very active players when they duel NPCs during Power Hour.


Casual player - 120 wins ~ 3 hours a day

Power Hour system:

50 NPC wins * 20 exp = 1000 exp (Power Hour)
50 NPC wins * 10 exp = 500 exp
20 1vs1 wins * 10 exp = 200 exp
Sum = 1700 exp

Lucky Win system:

120 * 10 exp = 1200 exp
12 * 30 exp = 360 exp (10% Lucky Win chance with 4x exp)
Sum = 1560 exp

Semi-Hardcore player - 160 wins ~ 5 hours a day

Power Hour system:

50 NPC wins * 20 exp = 1000 exp (Power Hour)
50 NPC wins * 10 exp = 500 exp
60 1vs1 wins * 10 exp = 600 exp
Sum = 2100 exp

Lucky Win system:

160 * 10 exp = 1600 exp
16 * 30 exp = 480 exp (10% Lucky Win chance with 4x exp)
Sum = 2080 exp

Hardcore player - 240 wins ~ 9 hours a day

Power Hour system:

50 NPC wins * 20 exp = 1000 exp (Power Hour)
50 NPC wins * 10 exp = 500 exp
140 1vs1 wins * 10 exp = 1400 exp
Sum = 2900 exp

Lucky Win system:

240 * 10 exp = 2400 exp
24 * 30 exp = 720 exp (10% Lucky Win chance with 4x exp)
Sum = 3120 exp

What you just said further proves that this dis-benefits casual players and benefits hardcore players..

Edit; My version of 'casual player' would be about 30minutes-2hours.

 Thylek's suggestion gives you some examples, and stop taking the numbers for granted. Even if it was to go through, Devs would tweak the numbers. He's merely using the numbers to illustrate the concept and show how it may be superior/better to the existing Power Hour system, which benefits some players more than the other. It's mostly about the concept.

True the balance between casual and harcore players does get changed a bit.
But this only benefits those hardcore players that play more than about 5 hours
a day. In my example its a bonus of 7,5% for players that play 9 hours a day
when compared to the current system.

Do not forget the that all players will benefit from the Lucky Win system because
of real life time management. You no longer have to play at a set time during
a day and you cannot miss a Power Hour anymore. With my suggestion you are
free to play whenever you want to get about the same bonus rewards as now.

The fact that he went through all that effort to produce those results serves my purpose to question them..
I'm actually giving input, 50% of your posts are negative input, try making a suggestion for a change?.
It seems like the only reason you're on the forums is to wait for a post too come out that you don't agree with, and argue upon it.

Because either someone has posted what I wanted to say, or I want to challenge someone's point. In the end, it results in even more feedback. If I don't agree, that's my opinion and you have yours. Neither of us is right.

Saying that numbers aren't set in stone is still a valid point. A fair amount of players' balance suggestions went in-game, but with completely different numbers. Exp/Credit rewards still fall under balance category (Exp curve, Exp:Credit ratio), so the numbers would end up being tweaked regardless, that's why focusing on the concept is better than disagreeing with numbers used as an example.
