Actually, the 10x change actually made it easier to balance. If a skill did too much damage at 33 damage, but too little at 32, then we'd just be out of luck. But now we can just make it 325 instead of either 320 or 330. It's not a great example, but hopefully it gets the point across. Not only that, but it makes the game make a lot more sense and easier to jump into when making a build. Now every stat point matters instead of you having to invest 3-5 stats into something to see a change. I know I found it weird when I first played and putting points into my stats didn't do anything at first until I put enough in.
