Lionhart Cometh

Deep-space scans have detected an armada of unknown origin approaching Delta V. A single transmission was received before the ships disappeared from view, “I am Kaiser Saeva Lionhart, and I am coming to claim what is mine!” Saeva Lionhart and his forces are ready to take control of Delta V even if it means annihilating the existing population!

In addition to an army of elite soldiers, Saeva is bringing his most powerful lieutenants, his children Immanence and Transcendance. Once again, Legion and Exile forces will need to unite to protect Delta V from this otherworldly army. This Friday, June 6 at "When It's Ready O-clock", prepare for the dawn of the Lionhart Saga!

This highly anticipated release will prominently feature artwork from Revontheus, the architect for many aspects of the release. If you enjoy it, be sure to thank him!

Fight Lionhart with...Lionhart!

Before the full force of Lionhart’s army arrives on Delta V, you’ll have the opportunity to experiment with Saeva’s technology firsthand! Lionhart’s Avatar Bots (P and E), Lionhart’s Carnage (Physical mutating primary), and Lionhart’s Knowledge (Energy mutating primary) will be available for a limited time with the 10,000 Varium package. This incredible package includes 4 powerful weapons of destruction to help you defeat your foes and repel the invading forces.

These weapons will include a permanent active core Lionhart’s Shield. This defensive core allow you to encase your or your partner in a crystalline prism that prevents enemies from attacking. It literally makes the target untargetable and immune to any debuffs or attacks. This brief reprieve from damage provides you or your ally with an opportunity to buff, heal, or simply deny your opponents from inflicting damage for a turn and force a change of strategy.

Lionhart’s Avatar Bots include two potent skills, Lionhart’s Claws, a devastating slashing attack, and Lionhart’s Roar, a special ability to unleashes a deafening roar that buffs the Rage of you and your ally. That's right, this new ability will be the first AOE buff.

These amazing items are just a taste of the amazing assortment of weapons and armors that will be available in game as prizes, mission rewards, drops, and items sold at merchants.

These weapons and bots will be available for a limited time through the Varium shop and at the Lionhart Soldier merchant for Varium! To make room for this new package, the Black Abyss and Blood Hawk packages will be leaving permanently. The Black Abyss Bots will be located in the Black Abyss Cache with the other Black Abyss items.

Overlord Overhaul

Because this new event is bringing focus to the Overlord Facility, this long-forgotten region is receiving a major overhaul. Charfade is working her painterly magic on the facility, creating the haunting, imposing military installation it was always meant to be. Be sure to explore the screens and experience the revamped region for yourself. There will be many more friends and foes to challenge here!

Rage Revealed

Since it was first introduced, Rage has been a mystery to many players. You only see your Rage on your turn; the Rage of your opponents and allies remains a mystery until the attack is finally unleashed. You also have no idea how much Rage you accumulate from your attacks or from damage you receive.

In this Friday’s update, you’ll finally be able to see your Rage and the Rage of your opponents throughout the entire battle. The familiar Rage bar will still appear on your turn, but you’ll also have a permanent Rage bar with the rest of your vitals.

Fame Game

Lately, we've been seeing more and more people abusing Fame. This is unfortunate as the feature has not served the purpose we originally intended. Our plan to address this issue is to remove Fame from the character page to an in-game system. Since our plate already overflows with Lionhart content, we may not have time make the transition this week. We apologize that fixing this has not been a priority, but we believe that moving this feature in-game will greatly reduce the amount of Fame harassment and exploitation to make it the fun and engaging system we always hoped it would be.

It is not a race to see who can post the Design Notes first, or see how quickly after the Design Notes are made that you can post them on the forums. Quality is highly valued above speed in this case. If you want to try your hand at posting the Design Notes, but are not sure how to properly format them, you can look at previous Design Note threads for an idea of how it should look, and read this thread about Forum Commands to learn how to properly post pictures, links, text colors, etc. You may also pm any one of the ED GD forum staff listed here and ask them if you still have questions about properly formatting the Design Notes. To answer some questions from previous thread:

    quote:

Can someone clarify if the bot will boost the rage of both the players in 2 vs 2 simultaneously. Cause that's how I read it in here.
One more question.. if I use the weapon special.. will it stop the opponent from emping or atom smashing me ? - any testers wanna answer this?

First question: I'll have to check that, as this one is new to me too.
Second question: This should only stop damage. However, I'll double check tomorrow.

    quote:

Is this the start of totally Varium exclusive gear?

The packages are leaving forever. However, the items should be back next season in-game for all. I'll double check that to make sure however.

    Updated DNs with new infomation.

If there is no non var core related something well this may be the next downfall of the non var community 2 debuff robots/var sword was 1st<~~major beatdown to the non var's and now the lion var only core/robot stuff<~~ only time can tell. What happened to omega and how all the stuff would be equal? if we are relying on promos to be stronger as var then why cant phase related var stuff be buffed by +1stat at least.

Maybe I should help to relieve the stress about nonvariums not getting promos right away. Since Omega started, ED introduced a new policy, the first time a promo was introduced, it would cost varium only so that varium players have a special access to such promo for supporting the game but after 1 year, such promo (if it wasn't tagged as rare/ ultra rare, rather seasonal rare) would come next year and be available for credits. Since Black Abbyss, Blood Hawk, and currently LionHart Promo items have been/will be part of a special event, they will leave the game permanently, though if ED Devs decide to make the promo available to be bought for credits/varium, I really think the Bots should remained promo package only. This was the same case for other promos in the past and I consider it fair since they should have some benefit(not advantage!) for supporting the game.

The reason why phase related var stuff can't be buff is because such thing was eliminated. Varium is not meant to be an advantage but a shortcut to buying weapons and other items as well as getting promo items and access to special features. While I can agree cores available for nonvars haven't been added recently, the reason is the creation of the balance tool which will help balance testers make balance changes with the minimal Dev assitance which will result in better results when making such balance changes. If cores were added without enough testing and balancing, it would just lead to more rants and complains about how this new core(s) is/are destroying balance more than it is.

EDITED: Erased the quote since it is against the rules due to the poster being above me.

I agree on benefit for var promo but if u look at the past promos are weaker then the present ones and if this continues within time varium promo users will win 100% of the battle against non var o.o but if they bring back then after a year thats reasonable for credits.

@suboto: Not really, while they may "look weaker", I think the effect of the cores and its strength relies on the build of the player, the way he uses such items and the situation he is in. Several factors affect this, alas the opinion is subjective which is why I respect your opinion.
The new policy ED added for Omega about seasonal promos is something I support, since it gives non varium access to such promos, even if a year late, but it is better than having no access to it at all.

Very nice art by Roventheus. The promos are very good too, not damage or str related and situational so not OP maybe.
Still no balance tho. High HP High Str lvl 40's good luck with that.
And about Rage, rage bar is nice but you need to fix 18 support high Str players raging so fast.
They attack and attack and I defend and defend, next thing I know they already rage two times and I have 60 support and not even at rage...

@Pemberton, that's because rage isn't affected by support anymore... Neither is stun chance. Because support needed another nerf.

As for the notes, these new cores look really powerful... Guess well just have to see how it works in game.
Rage, I'm not excited about your enemy seeing your rage bar, will give a big boost to Mercs satellite strike and people with chairmans fury. Also eliminates a lot of strategy...

I love those wrist blades. They remind me of the Super Utility Claws I used to use when I was around level 20.

As for the core, I'm a little skeptical. So because you can see your opponent's rage bar, you can use this at the moment it is completely filled to completely avoid a powerful attack. So against some high HP-strength build, it could possibly be equivalent to a stun.

That may be a good time to use something like 5focus, but with Hatchling Rush still lurking around that will be difficult.

The Lionhart armour may actually be worth the credits! Time to start farming again

Though I must say that the 'alien visitor comes to Delta V' premise is getting quite dull.

Finally! A good defensive and strategy promoting core!

    Great job.

Unfortunately though it will be drowned out by the multiple unresolved battle mechanic issues.

Never the less it is a small step in the right direction and refreshing to see that they understand the need for defensive strategies.

I agree remorse but we already have a robot: assualt bot and everyone ingame knows that robot needs a 5% buff at least. when it was nerfed by 15% was when 4 debuffs were out smoke/mal/int/curse and now u add omega overrider+ 2 robot debuffs. i mean for the non variumers this would help them a little with tank builds. This lion robot will help var users. win win scenrio but ultimately keeping lion robot stronger for var advantage still :)

^ Pretty sure it is a weapon core, which means energy cost most likely.

Which means it will be much more useful on energy controlling champs

So the only thing I'm looking forward to in this saga is the story because the only thing that justifies a saga is a story.

Seeing as most if not all of this update done by Rev I hope to see how he stands as a writer

Awesome update! Cool art + can't wait to buy the new pack :D
Core effects sound nice. Visible rage bar reduces guessing and adds strategy.

All in all, seems like it was worth the wait.

I am worried about this too. There are too many players with azrael gun in 2vs2 and IMO this will be a big blow to raging big attacks.

On a positive note, the art looks amazing. Kudos to the ED Artists. Great job.

Also, can anyone clarify what this part of the DN Notes means:
    quote:

Lionhart’s Avatar Bots include two potent skills, Lionhart’s Claws, a devastating slashing attack, and Lionhart’s Roar, a special ability to unleashes a deafening roar that buffs the Rage of you and your ally. Does that mean these promos are available as credits/prizes? Or is it referring to some other new items.

@Lionblades: Lionhart promo won't be available for credits or rewarded as prizes in-game, promo only.
Other items which don't belong to promo will be rewarded/sold though.

Ok I got you. I was confused at the wording since it said "These amazing items are just a taste of...that will be available in game as prizes..." Almost sounded as if the promos were included since These referred to the promos.
