Most of us here, me included, are level 40, so we have a very narrow idea of game balance. For new players, though, early and mid game balance is particularly important.

From my alts' experience, there's really limited strategy at early levels (1-15), with the silver lining being that you can level up quickly, so you always have something to look forward to. From level 20 onwards, things get better and build diversity perks up, before decreasing in the end-game.

So we'd want to examine the early period in particular (since most other threads are devoted to level 40 balance). What are your thoughts on early game balance (level 1-15), and for that matter, mid-game balance (level 15-35)?

My suggestion is to give level 1 characters more skill and stat points that they can distribute as they wish, say perhaps 20 stat points and 10 skill points. To compensate, stat and skill point gain will scale more slowly, so you earn one less stat point per level and one skill point per two levels till level 21.

Just some days ago, I played on an alt of mine level 9 at reset to help a faction in a 2vs2 champ, first of all I couldn't find any 2vs2 battle, even this is off-topic, but I think this should be fixed.
On-topic, I noticed that the game is much more simple than it is at high levels/ranks, the battles are short and fun, pretty much straight forward. This was the case before legendary mode too, and let me
explain this point.
Stat points unlike legendary points, they are related to how many stat points you got, or what so called the stat diminishing, at some stat ranges, each 1 X (Dex, tech, str..) stat can give you +3
defense/resistance/ X damage in general, as when you bypass 85 X stats*, 1 X stat gives +2 defense/resistance/etc... Meaning that spending 30 X stats before 85 stats, will give you +90 defense/resistance
/etc..., as for spending 30 X stats after 85 stats, it will only give you +60 defense/resistance/etc...
However, this is not the case for legendary points, no matter how stats you have, each time you spend a legendary point, it will give you +3 (Sideram damage, defense, resistance..)/+4 (robot, aux damage.),
whether you are having 50 strenght or 250 strenght, So, how this could affect diversity in-game?
Well, first of all, 2 builds who had the most benefits (now 1), strenght builds and tank builds, since no matter how much you put into strenght or technology, +30 primary damage will remain intact, nor
the +40 robot damage, and I repeat, no matter how much str/tech you have. And +30 primary damage (+30 sidearm damage when it used to work with strenght), it was a big deal back then, before
the strenght builds got nerfed, in 10 turns, you can do 300 more damage than your opponent (if there is a rank difference), which is a battle defining number. (Same thing currently goes for 5 focus builds).
As for low levels, this is not the case, each build will get punished if it abuses 1 stat, for instance, if I spend more than 85 stats on strenght, each time I spend 1 stat, it will give less compared if I spent it
on another stat (that hasn't reached 85 limit).

I think this is why we see builds that outperform at high ranks yet doing bad at low ones, how so? since at high ranks, legendary points remain intact with each balance fix, that X OP build is in fact OPxOP,
double OPed. We can see this in support builds, in 5 focus builds, but in high dex builds too.

*Not quite sure if it's still the case.

I actually like this, since level difference won't really matter, this is a genius to fix level gap between players, even expanding it from 5 levels to 10 levels (When it's needed ofcourse), but for the time
being implementing your idea + leaving level difference the same, which will mean more fail battles, at advantage earned each level is far less than before.

Yeah, Mercs at low levels are really bad. BH and TM just mince them...
When was the last time anyone saw a Legendary Merc, anyway? I've only seen 2.
