  • Juggernaut
    • Dev Note: We undershot Juggernaut matching, especially since Underdog is now a thing. We want to keep Underdog to balance out getting, say, two level 32s in one match and two level 27s in the next. This way we can keep the difficulty of each match relatively equal while keeping the level ranges large enough to try and get matches in a reasonable time. This gives us a lot more balancing levers to get Juggernaut battles in a good spot.
    • Level range lowered from 5-10 lower than Juggernaut to 7-13 levels lower (A level 40 Juggernaut will now match with level 27-32 opponents)
    • Underdog now starts 10 effective levels lower than the Juggernaut, previously 5

  • Legendary Ranks
    • Dev Note: We were hearing a lot of feedback on the Legendary Rank system, namely that it provides too much power, and that 10 Ranks were generally worth more than 1 regular level. With these changes we intend to bring down the overall power given by Ranks, which should also even out the 10 ranks to 1 level ratio.
    • Primary Damage: 3 → 1 per point
    • Sidearm Damage: 4 → 2 per point
    • Auxiliary Damage: 4 → 2 per point
    • Defense: 3 → 1 per point
    • Resistance: 3 → 1 per point
    • Robot Damage: 4 → 2 per point
    • Medical Mastery: 2 → 1 per point
    • Energy Efficiency: 1 per point (unchanged)
    • NPC Crusher: 2 → 1 per point
    • NPC Armor: 2 → 1 per point
    • Price to unlock slots: 15k → 10k Credits, 250 → 175 Varium

  • First Strike
    • Lower level players are now more likely than before to go first, compensating for Underdog Support buffs.

  • Smoke Screen
    • Dexterity debuff: -2 at all levels
    • Static Grenade
      • Energy drain increased by 1 every 1.5 Support, previously 0.5.

    • Fireball
      • Debuff duration: 1 → 2 turns

I wonder if the devs realize that to someone who doesn't already play the game and know exactly how legendary ranks work, there was no change.
High ranked players get more stats. New players don't know about underdog.
Why again will a new player pick a game where older players both get advantage in experience, and, from their perspective, straight stats? Even if underdog ends up completely mitigating it, it doesn't matter.
Not only does it not accurately portray the situation, but it adds two layers of confusion about what underdog and legendary actually are, how they work, etc.

They have failed to look into the issue of ranks and understand the problem players are having.
The issue is not "too much power". The issue is any power in pvp, even perceived power. As a developer, your job is to look at player suggestions and use that to find out the problem they are having, then find an appropriate solution.
Instead what we got is basically pandering. "Look guys we did the thing you asked are you happy now please like us" without actually doing anything to bring in new players.

I guess this is about what we can expect from EpicDuel, if the winter update and changes like this are the plan. I wouldn't expect any permanent increase in player count ever again.

Oh your crazy putting juggernauts against people up to 13 levels lower , I can see the flood of complaints your going to get......

^ Don't worry. The playerbase will be even worse after gifting and won't get anymore because BH got crapped on, Merc is trash at a low level, and TM is the only good low level class besides TLM once you get enough creds

@xendran since u don't play ED you wouldn't know but many so far have complained about the power of underdog outtaking ranks by so much as if imagine (well not imagine cause it happened) a rank 80 was an easy win for a level 39 cause of underdog ? cause he out him with stats.

another thing juggernaut is broken now, no one is playing 2 vs 2 at low levels cause all they face are juggernauts and partnered up with an npcs so they play juggernaut only and due to no one playing 2 vs 2 all juggers are facing npcs happened in my case at level 20 - 21 did 25 wins in jugg in a record time which is 40 minutes and all i faced were 6 humans and 44 npcs... do the math.

now that static grenade's scaling lowered ridiculously to laughing point where u get 140 energy back as a f5 player and i saw a 77 + 13 support bh level 40 with 267 energy steal gaining 160 energy it's just funny and a laughing mater

you call this an update ?

i call it people stop playing ED we are going to shut down soon
watch the player base go fro 100 - 250 to 0 - 150 maybe less now the game will be full with low level juggs that can bot jugg none stop with 2 rounds ^^ i rest my case no further replies from me :)

EDIT : oh forgot to mention that those bosses that needed ranks to be killed will be harder due to not having those ranks, why nerf npcs crusher and armor ? now any npc is gonna do 30 more damage per round and health medic's ranks nerfed (energy stayed as it is) and still they get underdog to it... players on rank 1 - 20 will have a blast while they hit 20 well (rank 20 will mean quit from now on) GG titan GG nightwraith GG rabblefroth GG all ED team u killed the game more than it's already dead u outdone yourselves. R.I.P ED 2009 - Dec 2016 Condolences :/

Ok I have to ask who's bright Idea was it to nerf the NPC ranks that had absolutely nothing to do with the PVP issue that people were complaining about. that was an 100% unneeded change that will indirectly buff those NPC bosses.

@Mother1 The change to NPC ranks and medical mastery are incredibly strange to me as well.

And as a side note that makes me 0-2 on the winter updates. First don't lock seasonal cores behind the seasonal wall it is bad for creativity and second don't bother nerfing ranks that don't actually impact PvP in a reliable way

^ and legendary bosses need a significantly nerf now that ranks are worthless maybe give us the OVERPOWERED Underdog mode when we vs them?

http://prntscr.com/dirx8l ?? How can you make such a simple mistake? And why does 30 get's underdog buff? It's already got a level 33 partner ... so i was practically fighting 2 level 33's and lost. Jugg is still same as before. And with all the gifts raining, players buy the best stuff(cores) and upgrade weapons to max. Making it even more harder.

Jugg might be great and fun at lower level, but it's the same old for higher level's (40).

OK. This update proved that the devs don't know anything about their own game. Kinda funny how people with underdog mode have exactly if not higher stats than a rank 80 player and do 100% start first. Cool.

Its even funnier you dont get it , If anything they should of entirely removed ranks and underdog, or nerfed further, To reflect popular majority view.....

But most will be happy with this.

Obviously not you , your above rank 100 , same with shadow i just hope the devs check the 2/3 players on the forums against the rank change all rank 50+

Bounty got the correct if not a good nerf. I have been a bounty from when i am playing the game and i literally feel sympathy towards fellow people. Jugger seems ... well.... again on the jugger's side. Even though we still see 32 or higher people and most probably lose.... the lower levels are going to get a literally definite lose.As for the legendary ranks... i dont really know much about it as i have only seen the lower ranks.

I was playing with my lvl 19 alt. I pressed 2vs2 and ended up battling a lvl 32 dex BH with a NPC that only does psy. damage. Bs.
2vs2 is ruined.

If the money loss of the high ranks will not be refunded and ranks will stay live just to make lower level stronger with underdog, I'd prefer to have it completely removed and make all lvl 40 the same again. If you guys already treated the elder players like they are not part of the game by ignoring all the varium/credits they used to unlock all those ranks (5000 credits or 175 varium loss per unlocked slot) and made it a bit cheaper and a lot more useless, I prefer that you guys just remove all ranks and make the high ranked players definitely rage and stop playing the game. No need to kill us ranked players so slowly, only make us suffer more, lol.

If the idea to implement non-PvP perks to ranks was so much ignored just remove ranks because it's even more unbalanced than ever. Rank 80+ (played a lot more) have a lower chance than a lvl 38-40 (rank 60 or less, less experienced player) to win. Interesting.

There isn't a game in this world where the lower experienced players have higher chance to win than a higher level, it's the first one. Trying to balance the rank and underdog system is just making things worse.

Now seriously, just an opinion: I think it would be better to remove ranks temporarily and refund everyone that unlocked slots while you devs think of something better. Make ranks still there (rank 300 remains rank 300, rank 7 remains rank 7), but without any effects in or out of battle, just as an emergency mainentance. UNDERDOG SHOULD BE GONE ASWELL.

Now, let's compare the way it is NOW:

Example:
Rank 32 player, 10 ranks on primary weapon, +10 defense and +10 attack (didn't unlock it all, not enough money) = +10 primary weapon damage, defense and resistance, can be worth 300.000 credits or 5.250 varium or something in the middle (example: 100.000 credits and 3.500 varium).
Rank 1 player, underdog IV (+2 strength and support, +3 dexterity and tech) = increases: 2-4 primary and auxiliary, 6-7 defense/resistance. Also increases chance to block, deflect, critical hit, start first and all skills affected by any of the stats. Completely free buff.

Conclusion 1: Ranks only gives a (very small) buff to the chosen and unlocked points. Underdog gives a buff to all stats, even though it can be in a smaller proportion (unless the poor high ranked player wasn't able to unlock their slots, which means he can be in a even higher disadvantage),
Conclusion 2: Underdog also buffs skills and chance to block/deflect/crit directly. Ranks only give flat damage.
Conclusion 3: Ranks are (a lot) more expensive. And if you play a lot and you don't want to spend all your funds by unlocking all the slots, you will certainly get weaker every 10 ranks.

Final conclusion: Get to level 40 and stop playing, or you will get weaker, the more you play. UNLESS the ones responsible for the updates notice that ranks shouldn't work like a leveling up (or down, as you have to spend so much credits to be LESS WEAKER than the lower ranks) and put rank to do something (anything!!!) else.

It's also a pretty silly design oversight how underdog is statistically strongest on focus builds, and broken on aggro builds because of first turn. Definitely does not encourage build diversity.

Xendran lol nah. Underdog mode also makes the player the best in STR and Supp builds. Thanks to the 100% chance of going first, underdogs are also the best at STR and SUPP builds. Since the rule for STR and SUPP is always whoever starts first, wins, they will always win. The funniest thing is that I fought someone who was rank 45 and he had more defense, resistance, bot damage, gun damage, and primary damage than me even though I'm a rank 80. He had almost the same build (stats wise) as me. I'll make sure I SS it next time. Great Job ED. Just remove ranks since you cant balance them. Since underdog was released and rank 80 players were in disadvantage against ranks 24-79 and instead of them fixing that issue they made it worse. Great job.. Great Job.

Based on the NPC legendary rank nerfs which as stated by others have absolutely nothing to do with PVP. You'd think the devs just simply don't think about how the changes they actually decide to do impact their game. I guess this actually explains a lot now, based on some stupid changes that have been made in the past years.
