I don’t know if the devs haven’t revealed this or if I just missed it while I was on hiatus, but where does AQ3D fit into the AE timeline? Mechquest comes first, and then the events of the Reset kind of split the universe in two; one version had a massive reboot and became the DragonFable timeline while another continued on the Mechquest timeline for some reason (Warlic really shouldn’t have given us coffee). DragonFable takes place about 5000 years afterwards and we see stuff like the founding of Battleon & etc, and five years later the timeline splits again as the AQ timeline goes one way and the DragonFable timeline goes another way. Then some undisclosed time later Galanoth killed the Dragon of Time and merged the three timelines, creating AQWorlds (though the other three timelines still manage to exist somehow).
So when does AQ3D happen amid all this wibbly-wobbly timey-wimey stuff? The design notes that talked about the Guardian Tower in-depth talked about them just losing contact with the 8 other Guardian Towers, but by the events of DragonFable the other towers are already all either destroyed or nearly so. But the game can’t be before DragonFable, because Battleon is the main town, which was founded during the events of DragonFable. So when does this game take place, and where did these other Guardian Towers come from?
