Its really nothing much to it but the option to hear the classic SFX in the game v.s. the new ones and some people been itching to hear the refreshing sound of the classics all over again but if you ever wanna have a chance at hearing them again then support from you all would be most definitely vital and appreciated as it could help in bringing my dream to life. This was quote from my "Petition" topic which had been locked...:

 We could add a toggle for classic sounds but it would only work during combat. Outside of combat, like during quest, the sounds are called from 1 file using a small pool of names.

I'm super happy to see I'm not the only who who feels that way, and I'm absolutely gonna second this idea. A toggle, even if it's in-battle-only, would be stellar.

Being a 10+ year player as well, to me the original sounds are really one of the things in the game that manage to encompass all the memories I have of it in one simple package. Just like certain songs or albums can bring you back to certain times or memories in your life, the original AQ sound effects do that for all the memories I have of the game, as those have always been the soundtrack for all the amazing experiences I've had with this game. From back when I fought my first enemies after just having found this amazing new world and started exploring it, to what seemed like endlessly fighting through the old Uber set quests, to finally hearing that relieving "victory"sfx when finally beating that one insanely hard boss.
It really would mean very much to me to be able to play with the old sound effects again ^^

Sounds great! Classic battle sounds bring way too many good memories for me! I support this idea 100%, and I believe many more from the community agree with me .

The fact that you're acknowledging this gives me so much more hope in the game and community Hollow, I really hope y'all can come through with making this happen. Great thing is I don't mind the toggle being for combat only because that's what I was mainly talking about anyway. Though lowkey I do miss how the todays event sound sounded though it was simply the fire lucky strike but hey if you can bring it back for just combat I will be satisfied completely with no complaints. If you would like a idea of how it would work I can type it out for you.

 Oh,Wow! I thought I was the only one who didn'tlike the new sound. I realise that games must evolve and in over 10 years have always appreciated the massive input they all put in. Thank you

I now play with the sound on mute since the new sound kinda spoils the fun for me.

I would so love for there to be a way to get the old sounds back. If a toggle could be done then a great deal of thanks to the team again.

Just seen Hollow's post.The toggle for battle only would be awesome. I'm not too worried about any other in game sound effects. Thanks Hollow!!!

 Sorry I didn't get round to this sooner, did say I would reply sooner or later.

I personally feel this would be a great addition if such a thing is feasible. Many of us older players "grew up" on the old sounds and nostalgia can be a wonderful thing. Can send shivers down the sound! Even hearing the small Wind "whoosh" noise makes me smile thinking about it.

Given how the sounds are gotten from a pool I do not how easy it would be to grab them and select between new and old at a snap of a finger (or select in options, you know what I mean)

So long if it's feasible and the coding won't be too much of a hassle definitely. Nice to bring back the classics haha.

At first I thought this was a lost cause after seeing I think IMR saying they won't do that cause they want the game to modernize, not go backwards. After seeing Hollow's PM in the video saying they are considering it with enough support, I'm definitely for it.

Yeah I thought so too cause people kept overlooking it but now people are actually taking interest and I am trying my hardest to try and get as many people to support this as possible and I feel strongly that it wouldn't set any other update back as it would be a small change anyway unless there is something staff wanna tell us but seriously I am gonna continue to try and get more folks in on this I won't give up. I made it this far, might as well continue to try and get more people in on this.

^ I don't think the necessity to modernize necessarily conflicts with a (potentially huge) community desire to appreciate a traditional style. It's like when they put the Nerf! attack on the Nerfkitten's yarn attack, and we all got super offended - it was solved within a matter of days. It's not like that's the game NOT moving forward, it's just maintaining the original flavor.

And it's not like the old sounds are necessarily "bad" quality, so I don't see how that argument would apply here. Anyway, I don't think anyone *dislikes* the old sounds.

The staff has already answered this question multiple times: no, there won't be a toggle to bring back the old sounds.

It's literally right up there. And I think that it's very unfortunate if you don't feel strongly about the old sounds, because they're awesome

@Red Vector, Bruh Hollows reply is literally the first comment you see which states that it could happen and plus as some of the folks in this thread know that he said with SUPPORT meaning help from YOU ALL that it can be implemented into the game and I am sure it won't be too much to add first off. Second you also have to be optimistic as well because there are a lot of different types of updates we would never expect to happen but it happened so why not have hope for this one. I am not against modernizing but geez man I'm only asking for a toggle...again as I stated some video games have classic and modern music and sound effect toggles so why can't AQ do the same...theres still some nostalgia thirsting people active in the game and this suggestion is a small step to keeping them and bringing some back. Just give it a try man.

Since Hollow already said it's possible to add the sound toggle, it'd be nice if IMR could chime on this thread. Let's hope for the best

But they have so much character and finesse, you know? Like, if you've played this game for a decade, it's the one thing that's impossible to let go of ^_^

@Phlox Lover: No different from old graphics, something with a beauty and feeling that can never be replicated with modern graphics. To some, the very spirit of the game. With the release of the retro faces, I am hoping the staff will come to realize the importance of letting old graphics co-exist with the new, as neither has to go, so hopefully they will allow us to experience it all again, not just sounds.

But for now, I support this suggestion as well, as even just one step in the right direction is still a step. I just hope AQ will learn from AQW, where the old doesn't have to be erased for the new to be added.
