According to the wiki history these Sprockets where added on 16 jun 2016 as a reward for helping test the server, with the promise of a bank pet
And never any mention that you'll be able to turn them in for a limited amount of time.

Only once they released the pet 2 and half years later on 19 jan 2019, they said it would go away after a year on 31 dec.

Why was this necessary? And is the promised reward I got for helping to test the server, just some useless misc items?
The only info given that I remember where these tweets: https://twitter.com/aqwnewsteam/status/743603010392199168
And these design notes: https://www.aq.com/gamedesignnotes/serverrewriteupdatejune15-5883
quote:

Testing Mission Sprocket
Those of you who have completed quests on the testing server may have noticed a new item dropping from ALL quests - the Testing Mission Sprocket! Save up enough of these babies and you'll be able to turn them in for the 0 AC Sir Ver Bank Pet, a wicked-cool PTR testing reward!

Btw, this isn't about rares that I missed cause I didn't login. But about a promised reward for helping test a server no longer being rewarded for what reason?

I just came back to AQW in early January 2020, and I totally missed the bank pet.
Now that misc items will be rendered useless in my bank, since I can't trash it anyway.
I do agree with you, what's the point to make it limited time, whereas the quest item itself is limited by time as well?
Whatever the response from the forum, I highly doubt the devs would do a thing.
Unless you feed them with a load amount of payment by AC or membership, I don't think this would change.

Just for reason whatsoever. This is not the first time they broke any promise(s).

Oh shoot, I didn’t realise that the pet was released and deleted my sprockets some time back (I think)

In regards to your concern. The item was a reward to show who help out with the PTR server. Given the value the item the staff was offering. The staff decide the best route and to help them get data for play testing on the PTR. Was to defeat enough enemies to get x amount of sprockets and turn them in an exchange. Their fore the team gets the help they needed and players were rewarded for it. This was not intended as permanent item trade. The PTR testing took longer then anticipated and item was delay. It was given year in game to obtain and remove to show it was not a permanent item trade.

With that this incorrectly place thread will be locked by the power of the Blue Knight
