If I recall there was supposed to be a stat update where ranged weapons were only going to get dmg from DEX instead of spread between STR and DEX... did that ever end up happening? Does dex still affect stuff like accuracy and dodging?

That update hasn't happened, yet. I believe the staff still needs time to plan such a decision since it changes the fundamentals of the game. There is a thread that discusses this, but there haven't been any updates on ETA for quite a while.
