So a couple updated thoughts from the other day. I checked the price for Gnuvian and Barrius. Both charge 250 Z-tokens for their services to skip their normal rotations for a desired monster. So that is established as the fee for my earlier argument. Now that said, let's say that this was something we were allowed to do for the Void. This would actually be a lot more fair than I initially thought in principle because: 1. It's for the session only, as opposed to the painting which is for every session. If you never buy the painting but do this regularly, over time you actually would be paying more, validating the reason to buy the painting normally. This encourages people to save until they buy the painting. 2. If you buy the painting, AND you did it by buying it via this method, then you would have actually spent 1750 tokens. Which might still be considered unfair, but in reality sunk costs exist thereby rewarding those who bought at the "right" time versus those who paid to skip like they would have. Now on the other way that I thought of. Let's say you did wait for Black Friday. Using the earlier price point that I used (2500), that would be 1250 tokens, which is not all that much less than buying it "normally" versus out-of-order. There are few reasons this is actually more fair than it initially looks: 1. Black Friday is a 3-day event. This is less frequent than a void rotation (1 week for every ~3 months), and even less frequent than a seasonal holiday (1 month every 12 months). There's already a huge opportunity cost for this. If we agreed that time = lower cost a fair compensation, than this is actually incredibly fair because we reward waiting by giving people a lower price point. 2. In reality, you're probably buying in bulk for this event. This is something Costco does as a business strategy to encourage sales. So unless you already had everything you wanted (you probably wouldn't be taking advantage anyways), you're probably spending even more than you would have should you have done it normally. You are coming off with the boatload of paintings but you also spent a lot of money in the process. Utility arguments can be reasonably made but money spent is money spent. 3. Again if you were taking advantage of Black Friday, and you were buying a painting to take advantage of the savings, I have to ask how are we doing this? If you're using a painting you already to buy another copy of that painting you already have, the sunk costs come into play again. In the worst scenario that painting actually cost you 3000 tokens. With black friday, assuming you bought the first at the normal price (1500), and then the next with the discount price (750), that's 2250 Z's. With the perma painting idea that I have proposed, it's 2000 Z's (1250 + 750). This is indeed cheaper but the wait time is still incredible for this. Either way the original buyers are still rewarded because they would have spent less overall than those trying to take advantage. There is a luckiest scenario where the monster you want just happens to be there AND it's black Friday but this again requires incredible patience and luck (750 + 750). I will concede there are people with incredible amounts of self-control but there are many out there with less mind over matter. Either way the original buyers come off with the most savings overall, and still take more advantage than those buying from the centralized shop.
