COMING THIS WEEK!

Mogloween 2021 - Zombie's Landing:

Happy Mogloween! One of AQ's most popular and longest running events has returned! Adventure door-to-door and collect tons of candy which you can then turn in for awesome seasonal rares. This year it's a zombie apocalypse! Wait, no, it's an apocalypse OF zombies!! That sounds like it could either be a bad thing or an even worse one... time to review the rules of survival with your fellow zombie hunters and go terminate these shamblers before they overrun Lore!

Event Poster 1

20K Z-Token Package - Moglicorn Booster Pet:

Mazey the Moglicorn is all dressed up and ready for the Harvest Fest season, boosting the power of your Earth attacks!

Event Poster 2

6K Z-Token Package - Spirit of Harvest Misc:

This ethereal charm gives you resistance to Earth attacks and love for the earth's bounty (+CHA)! It also normally gives +10% gold from battles when in your active inventory, and a +25% boost during November!

In the meantime it's nice to see that we can get an Earth Booster especially for those who weren't able to get Veywild Fawn.

This blurb kinda confused me. Aren't those the same thing?

Will this be the same numbers as Veywild Fawn? I know not everyone has that one but will this be a complete clone?

I think now with the release of this the only Moglin elemental booster we don’t have left are Wind and Water. There have been ideas thrown around here and there to make the current griffin pet a wind booster but this might not fit with the current theme of moglins being boosters. As for water perhaps during next time Summer this could be squeezed in somehow

Oh is that the old mecha zombie that has needed an updated look for ages? Hopefully the zombie type in general is getting a good overhaul with this release.

Depends Zombie apocalypse sounds like zombies overrunning the world.

Apocalypse of zombies sounds like whatever intelligent undead consider as an apocalyptic event. And naturally it would effect all the "boring" living ones as well"

Yes pretty much, given that Veywild Fawn is a clone of the other elemental boosters. You can look at the most up-to-date info here.

If the devs (tho mainly Hollow) are willing to change the pet or make a 2nd version of it due to a clone being released, I could probably come up with a few fun suggestions.

Mogloween is Live! New additions to the Seasonal shop include a Water/Energy Wand, a Fire Twilly clone, and a new Water shield that seems to have the ability to heal when you get hit. So those are dope.

spoiler:

I can say that this was indeed one of the most frustrating set of enemies I'd had to face to date in a while. I wasn't able to keep track, but how many zombies are in the Zombie Horde? I feel like I was in that battle for a solid 10 minutes, and the mob before, the Zombie pair had 15k HP. Even with Paladin that was some really, really tiring battling. Eithr way looks like Artix is gonna have some fun.

And as for item reviews:

spoiler:

Why are those faces named after places? Odd.

Zombie-Slaying Hand Cannon: 2-hit light gun. 100-proc. Gets a trigger against enemies with 0 INT? I don't know, but are there any zombies that don't have 0 INT? THe trigger description is confusing and there's no triggered animation that I can see so it's hard to tell what the triggers are, and what its effect is although I suspect it's just the standard +10% on 0-INT.

As a general theme: "Conjured" spells costs both SP and MP. "Lobbied" only costs SP. Be careful to read the descriptions...

74th Law: 3-hit Fire spell that throws explosive barrels at enemy. It burns the enemy for fire damage.

Mandate LXXIV: 3-hit Earth spell that chokes the enemy.

Zorbak's Ultimatum: 3-hit Wind spell that poisons the enemy.

The spells seem pretty generic enough, and should give players options for builds that utilize those specials. The gun is a nice option for light 100-proc weapons. Nothing too earth shattering about these items, but they aren't game breaking either. Do with what you will of them of course.

Won't get the Moglicorn pet for now as the set probably won't go rare and there's not a particularly high market for Earth Boosters at the moment, unlike some other elements where they have more utility.

And Pun-isher

The information for the rewards is now up on the Info Subs forums. Notably, the Law/Mandate spells have two status effects each. As of the face names, those are owed to the fact that this quest is a follow-up to a prior Zombieland parody. Naturally, I had to go for an unrepentant foreshadowing pun with the title.

...I was not expecting Lore to have its own version of the Burning Man festival

Oh, and it looks like CH4OT1C! got one of his player suggestions into the Mogloween seasonal shop! Congrats to him on that.

A nice little quest (though I probably would have enjoyed it more if I'd actually seen whatever this is a parody of) - and I really appreciate the attention to detail like having different dialogue for paladins and necromancers.
spoiler:

And the boss is a nice callback to the night of a hundred ninjas - though I do appreciate only having to fight 20 zombies here

I also really like the idea behind the new spells, but I think the implementation could use some work. The Burn (and Bleed) spell unfortunately is fire element and thus in direct competition with Sunburst Amulet, Choke and Blind actually make each other less useful, and Poison simply lacks any real support for the status.

The biggest thing for me personally was the staff implementing one of the players' suggestions, as I genuinely cannot remember the last time that happened. I find it rather inspiring. (Cray avatar of Hope confirmed?)

Congrats to Chaotic!

Yeah choke and blind together doesn't make any sense . They're kind of opposites. If the thought process was so that those who prefer blocking wants to use it they can, and those who want to reduce damage want to use it, they can..thus making it usable for more players... BUT, if the effects combined were being paid for, then I would think it would have been better to scrap one effect, and make the one remaining better. Nearly all effects in this game stand alone are not good enough to just have and use. That's good for balance, but having an item that's "multiple" and the effect then not being as powerful means at some point later, people will just use one that purely does blind, or purely does choke...to maximize the effect...since stacking to max the effect is far far far more optimal. It certainly gives variety, which is always welcomed, but it will be outclassed in preference if not already, but eventually. And you can't expect every item made to be analyzed pre-release to make sure it's the best. We get what we get. You either want it or you don't, so let's just play the game and in time something else that is deemed better will eventually be there :-)

The game will always have these types of items. I can make the argument that items that do too many things are worse than items that do one thing really well. Acenstral forbiddence spell is like that. Burn and choke. I'd rather have a better burn and no choke, or a better choke and no burn. There are miscs galore that do way way way too much, and then end up having their upkeeps high when most people are using the misc for a specific use, not everything it does.

But these types of things provide variety and variety is good. So we live with it.

Not sure if Boss mechanics discussion is suppose to go in spoiler tags but to be safe I will.

I found something out when fighting the Horde:
spoiler:

If you stun the mob then you can kill it without having to fight all the zombies. I used the Time gauntlet to stun it, then nuked it as normal. Killed the 4 mobs in 2 turns and won the battle. No reinforcements.

So I've changed my mind on Mandate.

Lucky Beastmage

Celerity
Ghost Costume
Dual Bun Barrets
Stacking Mandate spell, while equipping roots of daw for entangle (goes higher with earth resistance, which is what Mandate spell hits, so PCO to earh)
Titan Shield - Blocklash

So, no dex. Still monsters dont land hits. If they do, you have stacked choke to mitigate it. So choke plus blind *IS* a good idea, because the damage reduction paid for strong effects on both.

Result, with specific strategies, you dont need Dex to block. Need dex to block =Myth.
