Let me preface this by saying the post below was copied and pasted and was intended as a suggestion for the Artix development team, as I initially submitted this request through a support ticket. I was redirected to post in the forums. There is a chance something similar has already been posted but please read, review, and respond to the following:

Hey guys, I thought I would make the suggestion to create a mobile version of the original AQ. As a point of order, start over with the plot but with a sufficient amount of content to keep players busy. I remember playing in middle school and I think there are a number of pros:

-simple design
-profit based on guardian memberships
-content is already designed, and the release order is already determined
-old players return for nostalgia
-new players will enjoy the simplicity and quantity of content
-opportunity to complete the advanced classes that were promised decades ago
-z-token shop items will increase profits once again
-base character and enemy models are already made
-combat system is easy to replicate
-can easily be seen as a great timekiller as progression is not dependent on large commitments of time
-is not an AFK RPG or constant combat game that EVERYONE has grown tired of.
-expanding player housing concepts could allow for PvEvP content, including PvEvP "wars"
subpoint: creating a guild system would allow for GvEvG content that would be exciting and bring players together. It also gives them another reason to spend money. Factions could act as alliances for advanced AvEvE gameplay.

Cons:
-need to take time to create a mobile-compatible version
-needs a graphical update (i.e. smoother animations)

I hope you'll consider my suggestion; if not I'd like to at least hear back from you on why you chose not to. It seems like an easy and profitable move. To be clear, I want nothing from this but a great game to play on mobile that isn't totally boring and isn't a complete money sink. This concept has the potential to deliver exactly that. If you've already announced this possibility, I do apologize. I looked online and didn't see anything; so I thought I might make a suggestion that serves both myself and your company. Thank you for your time, and I look forward to hearing back from you.

This has been suggested many, many times over the years. I'm not staff but there's a lot of reasons why this isn't happening any time soon as has been stated over the years by the staff:

1. Even with some people returning AQ isn't a popular product. AQW on the other hand has undeniably been AE's anchor for the better part of over a decade now. The staff is also limited in what they have the time to do. They already have their hands full with what they have on their plate. Why do this if the market is small and the cost-benefit ratio is already limited enough? Software Development itself is extremely expensive (seriously, do you know how expensive an average developer is especially with the aftereffects of the Great Resignation?). The last thing you want to do is throw money at developers at a bad idea.

3. The technical feasibility of doing this is already questionable. There's already been a few who have tried this with no avail. Converting AS into HTML5 and/or Unity is extremely difficult to say the least. AQW on Unity has been a project over a decade in the making at this point. And AQ Classic is even older than AQW. There's already the problem of how to even convert this - training in a new developer toolchain can take years when considering the scope of this.

4. You can already use Puffin on mobile, and the official launcher is already a solid product. Sure, flash has its issues, but it works well enough that a mobile native solution is not necessary. Both solutions more or less already future-proof the products.

5. The battle system is not easy to implement nor is it as simple as the UI would suggest. It has had to be re-written multiple times over the last 2 decades. Even with available free tools that convert AS into HTML5/Unity not everything ports over nicely. In fact most of it wouldn't even port at all given that the AS version that AQ developers on is so old that it's not even compatible with most of the conversion tools out there. That is unless, you'd like to pay for Adobe Animate, which for a whole team is *not* cheap. A look at the Battle Log and you'll see just how much happens under the hood.
