If I cast a spell when using Vamp's Evolved form, my damage only gets boosted by +37.5% and I pay 131 MP+196 SP.

Does this mean it's greatly outclassed by Spellcaster lean armors where you get the x1.375 boost for "free"?

For spells only? Sure!

Do keep in mind though, that Evolved Vamp also reduces the damage of your spells by 1/8 to pay for lifesteal.

Alright, I was thinking of converting my tome mage Neko to tome mage Vamp.

Now it seems like it's not a really good idea

Vamp is actually Optimized with a beastmage build, though people may dispute it, I think they'd be wrong. The subrace has a INT toggle and a Charisma Toggle, indicating as much. The heal based on bleed is a key indicator as to why I also say this. Inflicting bleed with bleed pets and guests as well as other means, including the armor itself, and bleed would grow significantly. You'd stay healed up as a result.

The problem with it, is Sol Neko is just better for beastmages.
