Excited for a new doomlight, but it being fire is a huge disappointment. If it covers energy and light as it's secondaries, then all is good.

If energy or light is missed, SMH!

Will get it either way =/ Darn you AQ!!!!!

I wouldn't be upset if you wanted to pull a Protoparagon and re release all the variants.

 I was about to ask, or maybe my memory is bad: Can we get re-releases of all the variants of Doomlight? Or as a further appeal, to make backlash more accessible to non-premium. It's infamously a playstyle which is gatekept by premium items with only a few truly free options.

Also that comet in the sky is getting closer and closer. Anyone gonna do anything about that before we all die from a violent, explosive and fiery death?

 Backlash is still a fairly new niche, and couldn't reasonably have its support prioritized over other niches and elemental gaps that were already in the process of being filled, some being very long standing. I do have plans to flesh it out more with quest reward ideas, but it'll have to be interspersed with other niches rather than a quick succession of Backlash rewards.

Definitely good to hear.
Now, I say this fully suspecting rereleases are not as simple as "flipping a switch", and this isn't even specifically aimed at you, but I feel the need to expand the stated interest.
There are some playstyle niches that are served almost unilaterally with premium items, like the aforementioned Doomlight. There's also Chaosborn and Hollowborn to consider. While it's nice to hear these playstyles are planned to be served in the future, I do think there's an issue with having these items with noted under-served niches having their options seemingly on a rotation with no indication of whether or not these armors can or cannot return. The process of having to design armors for these niches will have to be a long progress since, as noted here, support for niche playstyles can't really be prioritized over more gaping holes in armor support, like Ranger in general or Warriors and FD lacking Ice Armors. However, in the interim of dearth of support for these playstyles, I'm strongly in favor of all the prior sets of these armors being rereleased when they rotate in so that those interested in these playstyles do have an option to feed into these playstyles.

 I wonder if this new Doomlight will be a perma addition to the token packages. It’s long overdue and it would be nice for people who may not be around right now to come back in the future and still have the option to purchase a doomlight package.

 Yes, there is a fire variant of the Chibi Loco pet coming this week. The Emberheart Doomlight Set will be a permanent package. It's possible to bring the other Doomlight sets back for a month.

 This is good news at least for Emberheart. But I wonder why can't we have all the doomlights available on a permanent basis? Not asking for it right here and now, but it does deserve an answer now that we know that Emberheart is a permanent addition. My memory might be bad but I don't think those were promised to be permanently unobtainable. At least from my newsletter I still have on the original doomlight saying:

Admittingly this blurb could be interpreted a number of ways (rotational or forever unobtainable), but I'd like to think there's at least wiggle room at this point to bring them all back forever if the door is been opened to bring them back for a month. Admittingly I haven't been satisfied with the item policy around these kinds of conditionals because they're not explicit (just nothing said) and can in effect just leave the old system in place of effectively never bringing things back.

Unpopular opinion here but I did buy Doomlight because I didn't think it would return again. A cool rare with a unique gimmick made the set a no brainer for me. I will be fair though and say that the verbiage is ambiguous and could be interpreted both ways. That being said, I do agree that locking certain abilities and gimmicks behind a paywall isn't fun at all and I guess bringing it back makes sense for everyone. Maybe bring them back and make a legendary tag or alt colour for OGs? I also like the idea of just bringing out free versions through quests. More playstyles available is always a good thing.

The doomlight sets partnered with other items might very well be the single most powerful playstyle in AQ TBH. You do not need every single variant made, either, unless you just want the tokens. Each variant have 3 elements from 39-42% and so, choosing 3 with a combined 8+ elemental coverage is all you need if you're not sure which ones to get and are not planning on getting every one.

The earth version covers fire and darkness. So I likely will only get the emberheart version if it covers at LEAST 1, but hoping for both, energy and light, which is likely as these are closely aligned elements. If they release the energy version again, I *think* it has a secondary to light so I likely get that instead. I will have all 8 elements at 39-42% (already own earth/ice versions) -crosses fingers-

I wasn't playing when the energy/darkness versions were first created.

But I think if staff released all the old variants, AQ will be banking because backlash is so utterly strong.

Consider the following Pro's for getting these.

1. Limited feature mostly locked behind pay to win
2. Backlash using this enhances ALL backlash
3. Z token bonus for 5-6 more days
4. Stat revamp has thus far removed the ONE downside of backlash build..ie low BTH, by making mainstat affect BTH so strongly, so this playstyle/build is even more powerful than before. AND, END's newfound status resist and heal buff makes this even better on top of that. So the timing of doomlight with these things will make this a hugely popular decision and make AQ a lot of money.

 As far as I'm aware, no Doomlight releases involved a statement of permanent rarity. Per Hollow's prior statements, it's been our stance for some time that we no longer declare any new set will be permanently unavailable when cycled out.

Just as an aside, but my interest in Doomlight lies within it serving a niche that's pretty undeserved. While there is a certain importance in package armors meeting a certain standard so as to appeal to a playerbase, I wouldn't want the status of a item as premium to inoculate it from the same balance standards everything else should follow.

My interest in Doomlight is appended with the knowledge that it's a over-performing armor that breaks armor conventions (The penalty -> Reward scheme of FSB doesn't apply to Doomlight due to the nature of backlash), (Paying MRM for triple compression on a armor that wants to be hit isn't a actual penalty). So Doomlight adhering to balance standards wouldn't really affect my interest in them. They're still a very undeserved niche in which, even when they begin to get non premium coverage, will still be up to standard armors.

And the fear of making exceptions for premium items is that it has an adverse impact on how staff can go about creating armors in the same niche. Doomlight's over performance, based on the litany of premium items that are just "good" or even "bad", signals to me that it's an anamoly. In which case, how do you make a backlash armor that isn't doomlight with the intent to have it adhere to standards and not have the playerbase dismiss it?

Just my thoughts.
