Now I don't want to make this an essay but I still feel like I wanted to give my thoughts on the summation for the year. A lot happened and while I'm sure there's plans for next year, I also want to use this thread to hopefully springboard off what we'd like to see next year too. I'll briefly summarize my thoughts on a few crucial points.

The Good: We started on a lot of QoL updates! A lot of things in AQ that used to be really troublesome to manage are now pretty easy to do so. The storyline for this year, while unfinished was pretty great to witness. Not to mention that the storylines and writing keep getting better and better. The biggest things to get excited about are that long standing stubs and unfinished business are getting wrapped up.

The not so Good: This is where I'd like to acknowledge (and the staff have done so as well) that while much was started, a lot was left unfinished. Much of that was due to illnesses to various staff members alongside logistical issues which seem to keep coming up. The unfinished business part, because of said delays seem to increase frustration as there seems to be little time to do full-measure changes, leaving the game in a state of flux. As these half-measures and stopgaps have left an in-consistent outlook for the game, it has inevitably lead to many people feeling frustrated over a number of decisions.

The Hope: I'm at least hoping that 2023 will be much better than 2022 in terms of the process issues (delays due to lack of manpower, illnesses, etc). I feel like the roadmap from here is rather straightforward - to keep working on what was started this year (QoL, updates, finishing up loose ends, etc). Though I'd like to point out that maybe it's time to make a decisive move in relation to the process issues stated earlier. Maybe AQ could make a lot of progress in this area by potentially looking to add people and help out? We all like this game very much and 20 years have gone by. At least I forsee myself supporting AQ for the forseeable future if the good roadmap continues and we finally start to see where AQ should be going.

Anyways, these are short thoughts on a wild 2022. And here's also hoping for an even greater 2023!

Well if its alright I'll continue with my impressions of 2022

The Good: A lot of updates especially in usability and QoL updates that made a lot of otherwise annoying stuff very manageable and fun. Kudos for neat storytelling as well.

My personally favorite are Kitsune and the Rainbowtana. I can not believe later actually made me gain 2500 individual wins. That was a major motivational boost.
Kitsune as a nice looking guest/pet that finally made me rearrange inventory and get LOTS of understanding the game more. That also combined well with the QoL updates.

The not so Good: Most certainly the Stats update. Yes it was nessesary, even wished for and helped a lot of builds in specific ways. The uncertainity and lack of comprehension was a huge lettdown, since it was a live updates with changes basically as soon as they happened. But we had major changes before and those were planed beforehand and the letdown was just as negative. So I am unsure which way is the better one.
So far it seems working and despite a bumpy road the finish line does seems promising.

The Hope: Clearly another 20 years. So much happened and this game is still going. I think that speaks for itself.

Belated Merry Christmas and Happy New Year in advance to everyone reading! I too would like to briefly summarize my personal thoughts:

The Good: QoL changes specifically: features added to shops and introduction of LTS paintings.

The not so Good: Stat revamp which I believe was pre-planned and should not have been a spillover project to 2023.

The Hope: Continue to listen to voices of the wider playerbase and advance AQ to a better state and make returning players stay and potentially attracting new players.

The Good: QoL changes, some very nice equipment in the second half of the year. I am usually quite critical regarding equipment but I will say that there's lots of good items released in the later half of the year and I'm quite happy to see that.

The not so Good: Stat revamp delay, Void revamp delay and last but not least, Archmage delay. Stuff happens but come on, we've been waiting 10 years, if not, longer for it, had our hopes brought up only to have it crushed again. I hope all these will come next year asap

The Hope: More caution with regards to balances and nerfs. A very touchy subject but try to listen more to other opinions, math is important but it certainly isn't everything. Started off poorly this year but alot of improvement towards the end of the year. Keep it up!

I just want to see something I began to see late in 2022.
1. Sense of Urgency on specific things
2. Keep the players in mind when addressing old GBI "issues"

But the sense of urgency expanded to all facets.

Late 2021 ushered in the ripping off of the band-aid, and I was on board with the plan. Still am. But spreading out what the plan entailed as much as it seems to have been, at the time, was my one huge concern, and it came to fruition.

Covid happened, and who knows what else. The end result was unfinished business and not much accomplished in the way of "The Plan". 2 class revamps in a full year IMO was less than what I'd hoped for.

The sense of urgency that occurred was addressing OP interactions and most bugs on newly released items. This is a fantastic way to address it as it will lessen the backlash that will inevitably occur. Nothing is absolute but this is the best way to not alienate players and push them away.

But the lack of sense of urgency on the 2022 plan to address the stat revamp and class revamps resulted in some disappointment, at least from my personal expectation.

As a result, I would like to see *many* class revamps accomplished in 2023. To me, it's foundational to the game...Look at it from a brand new player's perspective.
And of course, lets finish the stat revamp EARLY as possible. Get stuff done, so that unaccounted-for real-life obstacles don't impede and hinder the big picture plan as much.

#2 referenced what happened with the cutlasses and Fae's. It kept the intent, the reason to use the items. If/when adjustments occur, continue to consider this.

Lastly, I personally would like to see:

1. Old GGB's re-evaluated and removed/replaced or prob better yet, adjusted. Many UR's just plain suck.
2. Re-evaluate early gameplay. Dont make the game run new players off.
3. Estate QoL and functionality upgrades
A. There are some instances where you are inside say, a stat trainer, and exiting exits you all the way out instead of just to the estate side. Little things like this. Same for exiting world portals...why exit all the way out? Just place your character the step before entering.
B. Stat trainers need some better perks
C. Maybe finally add something else to the museum.
4. More $100 package updates. Aerin has some good reworks in his suggestion thread. USE THEM.
5. More status bombs. I love them

I'm more-or-less happy with the state that the game is in right now. I understand that a lot was promised, and the Archmage class being delayed was a bit of a letdown, but seeing the Tier 1 classes get revamped was a very promising start to what will undoubtedly be a very long class revamp project.

My main wishlist for 2023 is:

* A good light armor for mages that isn't Paladin or Lumenomancer. With Necromancer class, Archmage Apprentice, and several other offensive armors, I've managed to get a mage build that's very solid and covers every element, but to get a good light skill you're kinda forced you to run either Paladin (which locks most of the relevant skills behind a class title), or Bloodmage (which is much less strong than it used to be due to damage caps and updated HP formula). An update to the Solaris set, I think, would probably be a good option here.

And on that note:

* More updates to old Mastercraft sets. The updated Communicant Set is excellent, particularly the weapons, and it leaves me hoping that we'll see revamped versions of some of the older sets too. An updated Twilight or Overlord set could be nice, but the Nemesis and Solaris sets I think are probably the ones most in need of it since they don't even have Level 150 versions.

* Mage and Rogue class revamps. Nothing here that isn't already covered by the existing class revamp project, but it would be very fun to see how these starter classes would translate into Master class armors. Mage might be the trickiest to balance but it could offer some interesting utility.

* Updates to auto-hit weapons and skills to account for the new stat revamps. With DEX no longer being required to calculate hit chance, most auto-hit weapons and skills are due for a significant buff. Off the top of my head, the ones I can think of are the Perfectly Balanced Blade, the Divine Kusanagi Sword, the Kindred weapons in auto-hit mode, the Burden of Insight, the Lord of Thunder set weapons, the Ectomancer GGB weapons, and the Darksplatter/Supernova/Frost Elf spells in the Z-Token shop

Good: QoL

Bad: Endurance still isn't a practical stat beyond niche builds.

Hope: Neko revamp. Getting those charges is such a pain.

I'll add to the post above and ask that CC not be guardian exclusive. I'm tired of the original colors on some items which guardians can alter. Let me change the necromancer cape to anything other than red on my adventurers too.

Idk how nice the previous year was as I played randomly throughout but recently got back to it to focus on another character, a tome mage. I hope to see more tomes this year to cover the few elements still missing, the stat update as well as status updates finalized too. Not sure what else to ask for as I'm satisfied with what we have. I'm sure things will turn out well.

I have some wishes regarding Estates as follows :

- The Exhaust Army option is still slow, if it could be made to work faster would be much appreciated, it still takes about 20+ minutes to fully exhaust my initial resources
- I know that the estate gold gained from Wars is not very rewarding at the moment, if it could be bumped in a considerable way to make it more appealing would be good
- Estate trainers need a rework, they arent very good now, the discount you get at the cost of resources upkeep is actually not very big to warrant losing said resources during wars, and the reduction of training in bulk further enhanced this problem of not being worth it
- Yes there are still empty plots on Estates, but this can be solved with a future update (maybe seeing new items as well)

Thats all my wishlist for 2023 !

^On that note:

Wishes: Updates to the War Portals and planets. It would definitely incentivize revisiting the cool planets! I know that this is not easily done because if I recall correctly, Capt Rhubarb has to come out and help with this.
Good: Lots of great QoL updates (especially the shops!), changes to status effects, and stories!

Also, 20 year anniversary!!!!!!!!!!! That's huge!

Not as goods: Teasing Archmage and stat rebalance affecting pet/guest BTH

Hopes for 2023: Decluttering of the GGB shops. All the items are great, but now it's becoming very cluttered and hard to scroll through. A lot of these items are from the game cross-overs. For the spells, a lot of them are Summon and Call versions so maybe just having 1 version (Call preferably) with notes that you can switch from the item upgrader to the other form?
All that said, THANK YOU STAFF FOR THE AWESOME WORK YOU DO TO KEEP THIS GAME ALIVE AND FUN AFTER ALL THESE YEARS. *sends virtual chocolates*

^ I been thinking that, if possible, there needs to be a 2nd UR and 2nd Rare GGB shop where all the elemental clone stuff is moved over to it. So all the chaos slayer, zerker, bloodmage, etc etc etc stuff get moved. Anything that has at least 1 clone..and use this shop when new clones are made, even if temporary. That would declutter it all. But I'm not so sure it's possible considering the mechanics of it all.

As a "returning" player (which isn't technically right, since I've been playing this game since 2008) and having finally managed to get a PC which has allowed me to play the many Artix Entertainment games after a year hiatus, I was genuinely happy about some of the changes I saw

The Good: 1. Honestly, I really like the way they handled the Necromancer. The fact that I can attack AND regenerate mana in the same turn(and the healing is actually usable and not just 1 turn wasted to heal half of a spell's worth of MP cost.) has made me very excited to see how they will handle the Archmage class once it inevitably comes to fruition. The lack of a way to regen mana like the myriad of enemies I fought was one of the reasons I never really played as a mage often, but as a hybrid/warrior. 2. Dex no longer being used for all hit chances. A very welcome change imo, since even when I had Dex at 200 I didn't really use any ranged weapons. I also like how any Dex users aren't locked in to needing Strength for their weapons either, each stat(for the most part) has a very distinct role. 3: Armors. My Elemental LORDS(and ladies) do you all make some phenomenal sets. Honestly good looking (and fun to play) armor sets are what sucks me back in time and time again. They almost never disappoint unless it's an element I already have 3 Mastercraft sets for lol(RIP Ice)

The Bad: For me, it was the website saying you can play the online version when you literally can't. I had a chromebook for most of my internet life after the 2010s and when flash died in 2021 I was pretty much locked out of what consistently made my childhood and made my love of writing fantastical worlds. If there is any way you guys could make an actual online version again without needing Flash or the Launcher, that would be amazing for others like me that are just too broke to afford a proper PC.

Wishes: Classes. Yes Classes. Paladin and Necromancer showed us that Class Armors CAN stand on their own 2 feet and be just as (if not even more so) viable than just basic mastercraft sets. I was genuinely floored at how good being a Paladin and Necromancer(Lich form feels like it needs a small tweak, it's weaker than the main armor itself rn) played after years of neglecting most classes. I mean let's face it, after level 70, pretty much every class was obsolete and were detrimental to you after the sweep(s), with a few skills being the exception, not the class as a whole. I hope Assassin gets updated first so Rogues get what both Warriors and Mages got from the Paladin and Necromancer revamps. Also I hope Dragonslayer and Dracomancer(THE classes that I absolutely loved back then and still do to this day) get moved to being Tier 3, since not only are dragons cool, I feel they are tougher than most Undead(especially when you combine the two and get a Dracolich). They also have a sort of "Yin Yang" theme going on with them, much like the Necromancer and Paladin, so seeing them gain useful, cool, and wacky abilities would be awesome.

The good: reconnecting to this game has been a lot of fun for me. A lot has changed since I last played in 2010-11…. I love the strategy, challenges, the stories and various arcs, the art, and the fact that people still love and play this game. It’s a nice escape to simpler and more nostalgic times.

The hope: my favorite thing right now is challenge fights and bosses that require strategy, trial and error, planning, or questing for specific equipment in order to win (such as the avian trio). Those fights provide a sense of accomplishment and even some adrenaline! I just would like to see even more challenge bosses and gauntlets.

.*. .*. .*.
Pfft hahaha!

I believe 2022 was a good year with many interesting updates, storylines and items and I am still under the impression that AQ is getting better and better, with such a small team it is amazing what they actually churn out week after week.

I hope that stat revamp will be finalized this year because there are certain builds suffering more than others in its current state.

My biggest wish/hope is to have a submenu for the active items in your inventory which has some kind of a toogle.
As soon as you would equip a togglable item, then it would show up in the menu and you could decide what toggle you want to activate.

I am finding myself very often with several togglable items in a battle and by mistake I manage to either activate another instead, or I have to unequip then to reequip and it is quite time consuming.
Anyhow I am not sure if it is possible or how difficult it is to implement such a feature, but I think it would be highly appreciated by a lot of players due to many items lately being released with toggles.
