YAY NEMESIS!

So hyped to see it make a return, I hope they keep it focused on Bleeding.

I'm wondering what version of this armor we'll be getting. Looking at a bunch of old AQ videos on YT, I can see old attack animations that have anywhere from 2-4 hits. I'm at least hoping we'll get the 4 hits version. I know 4-hits for an armor is pretty rare but I feel like that would be the most true to the original and even the past revamped version.

Also interested in seeing what the theme of this set will be. Maybe something to bridge past and present, like Bleed/Backlash I think is something everyone's looking for. But I'm always open to surprises too.

Also for next year: Hoping to see a revamp of Alnaphar sets. Ironically, Fire and Dark sets are lacking options when it comes to permanent non-premiums. I would even be open to a Mecha-Knight update or Nova Knight too!

Okay so it's extremely hard to contain my excitement right now. When I heard about the potential update I got hyped immediately.

Yes the 4 hit animation was "slow" but I loved it. I remember when I first fought the Twilight Dweller, I was in awe seeing him go off with the 4-Hit attack. It made me like using the old Nemesis Set before it rapidly became outdated. Plus I remember a word I gave in reference to this, I'm about to be on it now.

@PD: IIRC Nemesis was only 2-Hits if you were Level 90, 3 at 105, and at 120 you would do all 4-Hits. I feel like this version might either be straight up 4-Hits or it could be a proc rate.

1+ , I'm hoping for all 4-Hits as well.

If Nemesis has no special effects, I'd still be satisfied. They could surprise us though.

Also, Idk if this will happen but I lowkey feel like Insurmountable Gatekeeper should receive a minor buff.

Edit: Alongside Megingold (As far as the belt), and maybe restoring the old attack animation? (The first hit being the weapon throw, second hit catching the weapon into the second attack before that final hit)

I definitely agree, but I think it would make more sense for this to happen after potential reworks to the Shadow/Twilight and Reign/Overlord sets as Gatekeeper is a hybrid of those armours.

While adding the Retro Nightmare set, could you fix up the final boss of Nemesis: Justice goes blind quest.
Nemesis (final boss) should use the following levels: 105, 120, 135 and 150

Also add level 150 Nightmare set version to Nemesis: Justice goes blind quest.

The addition of a Retro Nightmare set implies they're going to revamp the Nemesis set too, that's what they did with the Retro Golden Set/Communicant Set Revamp.

Personally, I hope they do the Overlord set next, that one was always one of my favorites.

I am trying to remember the OG Nightmare set's lean. It may have been pre-lean days? But it seems like it was nuetral-ish. If they keep the Nuetral lean, and try and retain similar themes, backlash and bleed would be one way to make a neutral lean attractive. It just is kind of bad that Winter Dryad exists, creating direct competition in the Ice element.

But strong backlash and a strong bleed or a combo of these (bleed on backlash?) would be nice. I do think the pet , if it had backlash would be great. Toggle between backlash mode and bleed mode. Would be a nice pet, actually.

Also, hoping the new spell is a huge blind.

Definitely worth the wait, More time to prepare.

@Above: Seriously, and sheesh you started in '05. I wonder how different AQ was then.

@King Draconix: I was quite young but I remember bits and pieces - it was much more all over the place in terms of enemy and equipment power level (anyone remember old Eye of Naab?), and I mostly copied what the YouTubers did, beating most tough enemies for the first time as a beastmaster. My favourite memories include the OG void, the first defeatings of the 'unbeatables' with Sila's Staff loops, saving up for the lower-tier uber sets, Asgardian being released as the first epic set, and Zardwars (RIP), imagine that as a fun sidequest! I jump on every now and again but anything retro is definitely going to draw me back.

Nightmare was my all-arounder armor way way before. So glad it's gonna be updated.

Vorpal Edges Biggest Fan!

At last, the OG Nightmare Set! This is the retro release I was looking forward to the most (after the Vorpal Edge, of course :P).

I have fond memories of frantically farming 'The Hatch' in hopes of acquiring the Nightmare Set. It was assumed that Nightmare would be discontinued with the release of the next uber sets (Reign and Shadow) the same way that the Golden Set had been previously, so there was a proper sense of urgency. It never ended up going rare, but that's probably for the best because I wasn't even close to completing the set at the time! HA! Eventually I managed to acquire the Armor and Shield and they remained mainstays in my inventory for years. In ~2009, I shared some of my Nightmare Set fanart in the gallery. It turned out one of my absolute favorite artists on the forums was a big Nightmare Set fan as well - he left feedback on my artwork and we mutually geeked about the Nightmare Set's awesome chaotic asymmetry. Good times! This artist was none other than the legendary Reverendwyrm! When the Nightmare Set was graphically updated in 2011, I was super stoked to learn that Wyrm was the one responsible for the redesign!

I will conclude this post with some exciting(?) Nightmare Set trivia from the depths of my brain:
  • The Nightmare Set has a very cool AQW incarnation!
  • Former KoO, TheKholdOne's signature weapon was a Nightmare mace with a super long handle, Khold's Twilight Terror Shillelagh!
  • Nightmare was briefly known as "Morus" before arriving at Nemesis. I believe "Moros" was the intended name. Moros being the personified spirit of impending doom from Greek mythology whereas Morus is... mulberries! HA!

@Jesse.M: Same, 11 to be exact. I remember the old Eye of Naab, definitely was an essential shield at the time for its use. That's how I was inspired to create at that time as well (still do, although seldom).

The OG Void was the best, and I miss the unbeatables. Though these challenge monsters aren't half bad, but nothing can top the age of the "unbeatables." I miss Asgardian (Megingjord/gold) old attack animation, this new one is so stiff to me, farming for the old sets lowkey felt like a chore back then. Zardwars definitely was the Retro extension to AQ before it was discontinued. Nostalgia will always keep me near as well for sure.

@Solar Boy: I wasn't around at this time sadly but I do remember someone having the "Khold's Twilight Terror Shillelagh" , it was the long cooler looking version of the old Nemesis mace. By the way it looked, it looked like a Melee variant... or a special version of the original variant (Magic)

I didn't know all the other info, what a history lesson.

For a moment, I thought the B in B-Bomb was Beleen, since she's the main association with pink. Nonetheless both movies were great, go watch them guys!

EDIT: Looks like the release is live!

Anytime, got the entire set. Thank you guys for making a melee variant of the mace!

Edit: Minor art bug, the right hands color is defaulted compared to the arm holding the shield.

Tried out the set, you guys have done it again! This armor especially benefits warriors early game: having a source of backlash to complement regular attacks early exponentially increases the ease of doing quests early on. Not to mention this is available at Yulgar's so it means that it's incredibly easy to get.

I would actually hope that more strong equipment comes out of Yulgar. Maybe we'll get the whole set of Ubers available at Yulgar's for easy access to strong items.

But that said, I'm still hoping that in the near future we'll get some updates to the economy so that people can actually buy all these items. Farming's pretty hard right now without the right access to things. There's been talk about dedicated quests, but I think something more radical could be done: Updating ballywho's gold chest to give even more gold per day. It might even be possible to find a potential ad buyer who'd be willing to pay AQ for ad space. Just something to think about.

An absolutely fantastic release, well worth the wait! I also love that we're not using the standard attack animations. If I had to really nitpick it would be that the 3rd skill is a tad too expensive, apart from that, I love how the armor turned out overall

How does the new armor compare to Winter Dryad's Bark?

That's the one I've been using on my warrior, and it's pretty good in terms of both attack damage and Backlash.

Second question: does Drop the Moap still use Cha for MainStat?
