Well that was a bit unexpected spoiler:
I'm curious as to what exactly the Magesters are cooking up to take down Akanthus down a peg because it doesn't sound anywhere near ready to do what needs to be done yet. On the Rose side of things, it's refreshing to see Jaania finally start questioning Akanthus' actions at least regarding the Doom Core, if only a little, based on what Warlic and crew warned about. However, its clear that moment where Akanthus defended Jaania from the ambush from the wind elves is still primarily clouding her judgement regarding her general. One can only hope that closer they get to the core, and possibly with more time to examine the Doom device, that she'll at least begin to see through him completely, and turn on him even if she has no intentions on dropping her own personal plan with the core. Ah, but for the real meat and "potatoes" of this quest. It's somewhat unsettling that just a puddle of the essence of doom from the power source seemed to be innately drawn to Yix to corrupt him and him alone. Like it was drawn to a living entity to corrupt as opposed to well any other non-sentient potato there. The worrying aspect here is that if just a small puddle of essence from the Doom Bomb can twist the form and consciousness of a being like Yix then we every reason to suspect that it being detonated in the Mana Core won't just destroy it but in all likelihood pollute it into a construct of Doom just like what happened with Myalos, the Vizalain, and so many others. The consequences for what that could mean for life on Lore will be catastrophic of course. Fears aside, Alteon now knows that Valen is alive although I find it odd and somewhat touching he referred to him as Valenn instead of Sepulchure. His reaction seems to indicate that he still views Valen as the friend he wasn't able to help rather than the villian that was basically gonna throw the world into darkness. Although, this does make me ponder as to the specifics that led to those events in spite of all we know that led to Valen becoming Sepulchure, Alteon becoming king, and of course how Lynaria fits into that equation when it comes to DF's own timeline anyway.
