Oh wow. Finally the Darkness Bloodmages and Bloodzerkers are out. With this, we now have full elemental coverage, which is awesome.

Also, I loved how you included that some items are leaving this week when creating this thread. Really saved me from missing out - which was what happened for the ZFinity Gauntlets. The fact that it was going away wasn't really announced anywhere noticable . . .

Thanks for the heads up!

@above

I have the link below bookmarked for weekly releases. Updates usually reflect there before taking place on the main webpage. But highly recommended to frequent the forums for unplanned updates by staff, like releasing of mason variants.

Edit: IDK why the link I tried to put here is not working. It's the AdventureQuest Newsletter (Email Campaign Archive) thing. See OP post, head over to that link and then click Past Issues. Bookmark that.

Not quite, we are still missing with the Ice Variant of Bloodzerker, I hope the staff did not forget about that.

@Legendd I check the AQ Forums everyday. And since nothing was written here either, the ZFinity Gauntlets left without my awareness, which gave me a mild case of emotional damage. Will check the link from now onwards, since the main webpage updates a bit slowly. Sometimes the website only updates after the items have already left, so the link would be useful in mitigating me missing out. Thanks for sharing.

@Bolter Oh yea. I did forget about that.

@ming sheun
I had pointed out that the Gauntlets left back in October when you asked. It was mentioned on the October 9th Newsletter. It was a single line (thus very easy to miss) and inbetween the Thursday the 12th LTS section and the Nickleclad Guardian Jr Pet section.

Here's a link back to when you asked and I pointed it out.

Minor tweak to the Pumpkin Spice Blade/Lance, they now require that you actually deal Fire damage with the hit in order to trigger the Celerity. For the time being that'll be the only adjustment, but we're keeping a close eye on these weapons since Celerity, especially one without a save, can be a powerful effect.

@Lee
Yea. I remember. And I really appreciate you telling me that it was in the email newsletter. But it wasn't in the forums, or the website, or the launcher, which is where most (casuals?) interact with AQ updates. That's what I meant, when I briefly mentioned it on this thread.

Also, I think people may be getting slightly distracted from this thread's topic. The only reason I raised my experience with the gauntlets was to convey my appreciation to Strange Doctor for a well-written forum post, because sometimes I don't receive the newsletters. It really helped me out, and I wanted to express that. I wouldn't have managed to obtain the Vampire Form or Mason Form without him. Loved the artwork for those too. Especially the Earth variant of the mason form.

@Others
Ooh. Early release this week. That's a pleasant surprise.

Edit: I really like new pumpkin weapons. Celerity in a weapon is really nice. Always enjoy playing with unique mechanics.

Zamn the new weapon is unique and the staff generously gave it a gold cost. I am so going to test out tonight, after my work. As for new zerker armor, I need to for Black Friday to whale XD

Can already hear loud noises from a distance that this weapon shouldn't exist.. HAHA

@Below, it's going to be ice or dark bard of war *pray*

I remember Blazing Bloodzerker came out on a December GGB batch, I can only hope the Ice Bloodzerker (the only one left) comes out next month though.

The weapons are good, and I like the fact we got another magic weapon with an in-built spell. But when compared to the melee and ranged versions, I feel as though it's another example of gatekeeping off of spells.

I think an equivalent approach to match the melee/ranged versions would have been to put on a toggle and then have it give player celerity if a spell is casted as long as you had enough MP or SP (whatever the cost needed to be) instead of an in-built efficient spell. In fact, even at that, it would be less abusable than the melee/ranged versions they released because at least spells cost a resource where attacking doesn't. (although one can choose to use a weapon based skill)

So once again the Mage didn't quite get the same thing. 1. The spell had to be built in 2. The spell, of course, again, was efficient.

I have to say, upon further testing, the weapons are absolutely stunning. So much so that it is absolutely essential to have in every warriors / rangers toolkit. With this item, Str and Dex builds can not just rival but surpass mages in nuking power. The ability to cast 2 weapon-based skills in a row, for a negligble SP cost? Wicked. Would definitely pair it with Essence Orb and Prime Chaos Orb for sustainability, but I am semi-confident that everyone has those already. One is Gold, so it's essentially free for those with an upgraded account, and nearly every Guardian has obtained the latter. Somehow.

Always wanted to move away from a Mage's build to explore Warrior and Rangers, but was hesitant because I am not that good at this game. But now, I intend to start itemizing my other characters soon. Noticed that many of the recent past releases has been Warrior / Ranger centric - which is definitely a great move to popularize & strengthen those identities. With this release, these 2 builds are going to be much stronger (though less versatile) than mages. A huge step forward for a respectable trade off. Really brilliant. I enjoyed this release very much.

Warriors and Rangers already were better at nuking. On most things that boost damage, spells get half the boost. Only when a mage uses weapon attacks , if they can stack enough damage boosts with most of the damage boosts for Mage weapon attacks getting 4/3 boost can it start to catch up to warriors. And even if it does catch up or surpass, it needs to be quite a bit of things stacked. I would also argue the mage weapon put additional parameters that restrict how good it is compared to the melee and ranged versions. This is a prime example of the constant gatekeeping when it comes to the better effects on stuff and how Mages/spells get the shaft. It feels like they made the celerity cost MP and then used an efficient spell to keep overall MP cost reasonable. I'd have rather spent SP for the celerity and normal 653 MP on a regular damaging spell. (I prefer effects over damage TBH, but I digress)

I get that some players think using efficient spells in spellcaster leans is optimal, but there's far far far more gameplay options that should be considered to just automatically and blindly follow some idea.

I don't say this to say the magic weapon is necessarily bad. It's not. I like the new direction of spells compressed into a weapon that you can still use the attack button with. I just dislike that they didn't really make the items have equal effects, because they didn't.

Regardless, I hope they can add the Ice Bloodzerker together with it.
