Recommended Tablet?

My parents might get me a tablet for my birthday, but I need to tell them which one to get. >_>

Sooo...what would be the best tablet to get for under $150?

aww i want a tablet ;___:

alot of people use wacom tablets, but i dont know much about them so, maybe you could go to amazon.com or somethinga and check out the reviews

My friend owns a tablet herself, and recommends Wacom. For $150 you won't get anything too big, but oh well.

 I got a 4x5 Graphire tablet from Wacom for only $100. With it you get Corel Painter Essentials 2, Adobe Photoshop Elements 3, and a few Nik Color Efex Pro filters for Photoshop, all for free. It's not a bad deal IMO.

Wacom is great but for less then 150 bucks you'll end up with a pretty small one, I have Intuos3 9x12 but that was a an expensive one. Although its more expensive ($200), the Graphire4 6x8 is pretty good and trust me, the bigger the tablet the better control you have over it

Not the original compaq one.

I wouldn't get one though... They are really slow and the battery life = crap (on my old teach's one)

Sorry for adding to the SPAM, but I'll be another who wants a tablet... preferably a tablet pc. Unfortunately, they're a bit on the pricey side of laptops.

Back on topic, I have no recommendations; I haven't had the time to really look for one yet.

If you check out NewEgg.com, they've got a few. Some of the smaller ones are under $50 (4.5" x 6"), the larger ones being more expensive though mostly affordable ($676 for a 12" x 19"). The non-WACOM 9" x 12"'s seem like they're a good deal (less than $150 compared to WACOM's equivalent size at $406).

If you don't care about brand names, than you should be able to find a few good deals.

It's basically a surface board connected to the computer that one can write on using a stylus putting input into the computer. It's a nice tool for digital artists as it replaces the mouse with a more familiar writing utensil for drawing.

Yea it might be less expensive but whats the sensitivity of it?

Wacom isn't just a brand name. It's an amazingly senstive tablet. Intuos (from the Wiki entry) "includes tilt sensitivity and 1024 levels of pressure". And the no battery/no cord stylus is an amazing little thing too. If you don't want so much senstivity, go with Graphire4 (current "generation") which has (from the wiki entry on Wacom again) "512 levels of pressure". Which even then gives for amazing control of what you're doing.

If you want for under 100-150, you'll be getting a rather small 4x5" tablet, which doesn't offer much control if your resolution on your monitor is at or over 800x600 (Which is the smallest I might add). You'll want to aim for a 6x8" or above to get the control needed for drawing or even graphic design in general.

If you want more info, check [link=http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wacom]here[/color]. That's the wiki entry, and you can even just google Wacom and go right to their site if you want. If you're going to buy a tablet, just go with Wacom, it's a safer bet.

I have a Wacom 8"x5" tablet and it works well.It not only has a stylus pen, but a mouse! And I have no idea how much it cost but it came with some odd adobe programs for picture editting...

First of all notice how the 50 buck 1 doesn't support vista? then next PC you get WILL have vista so you won't get too much time with it. 2nd pressure levels isn't everything:

what is know tho is that you need AAA batteries for the pen and mouse

They're both out of stock from NewEgg atm, but they should offer it in some other places. The surface area should be enough and they come with the tablet, a pen with stand, a mouse, 2 CD's for installation, the user manual, and "bundled software".

Not it. Wacom is brand name, I have the WACOM CTE-440

And now I am annoyed by yours, I looked at the site, i look at the home site of the manufacturers of the product. All that i found out was the battery thing and the resolution NOTHING ELSE. And i wanted to point out that specifically that it doesn't work with vista(since most people use Windows). I use All of the major OS's out there, also most computers that you can get have vista and all of them will have it in half a year or so.

You didn't quite understand what I meant. I didn't mean to point out which was yours, but another tablet that contained "some odd adobe programs for picture editting".

In other words, it was a pointless comment that I wanted to throw out there.
