I've sent avatars in to seahawk about 2-4 months ago. They were simply aqw Characters. I've long since waited for them t be uploaded, but have failed to get any result. Am I supposed to resend? Is there some sort of notification if they do get uploaded? Is there someone else that can upload pictures that I can send them to?
Thanks in advance,

Seahawk is pretty busy, but he'll always get to them eventually. He also uploads them in bunches so that might be the reason for the wait.

When I submitted avatars, it took about 2 months, there's no notification when they're uploaded, you'll just have to check in the avatar gallery yourself.

You just got to have patience, you can always PM another admin about the problem. :)

That depends. If you made a mistake and sent it to the wrong person, maybe. If you did send it to the right person, there's no need.

Nope.

I don't think so.

Also, there's one thing you have to note; Seahawk will not always upload the Avatars you send him. I myself sent about ten to fifteen avatars and only seven of them got uploaded. If there's already an Avatar similar to the one you sent, he won't upload it. If it's just a screenshot directly taken from the game, he (probably) won't upload it.
He ONLY uploads them when he thinks there are enough Avatars, and only when those Avatars are legit.

Adding to what has been said, there is no notification - but you still can check if the Pm you sent to him was read. And then you could search the avatar gallery in their respective sections to see if your ones were accepted.

To check you'll have to go to your Inbox and then into the Sent folder. Assuming you have not deleted the concerning Pm, you'll see the receivers name in a link, beside the PM. It tells us if it was read yet or not. Like this.

Seahawk does not usually reply to Avvies. If he does, He is also a very busy person, He accepts all those messages, and posts them, so on.

There are a few possible explanations as to why they weren't uploaded. As Seahawk himself has stated:

quote:

  • I like to upload avatars in groups. If you plan on submitting multiple avatars, finish them all first and PM them to me all at once rather then in 4 different PMs.
  • If you're just sending a link, make sure it works. It does me no good if you link me to your passworded Photobucket Gallery. Truth be told, I actually prefer it if you use the image tags and include the image right in the PM... that way I know it works and I can see the avatar right away without opening a second browser window.
  • Categorizing your avatars helps a lot. If you're sending MechQuest avatars, tell me they are from MechQuest. Usually I can tell, but sometimes I'm a bit behind on current game additions.
  • Try to be original. I already have 20 Artix avatars... if you want yours to be number 21, the more unique it is the better your chances.
  • At this point, any avatar that is just a cropped or resized screenshot will almost always be rejected.
  • Make sure you use a .gif or .jpg format. I reject a lot of nice avatars that are .png because I can't use them.
  • I don't upload avatars for personal usage. Anything submitted to me should be generic enough for anyone to use. Don't ask me to upload an avatar specifically for your use.

Given the nature of the upload process, I usually only upload avatars when I have a decent-sized batch of them... it's a more efficient use of my time. This tends to work out to being once a week or so, usually on the weekend when I have the most free time. Also, because of the way upload works, I don't always know who submitted what avatar, which is why I don't send out individual messages telling you I have chosen to upload your avatar.

  • Just be patient, it could very well be that Seahawk hasn't received enough usable avatars yet to upload. But do keep in mind that there's a limit to the amount of avatars and there already are a lot of avatars, so Seahawk probably only uploads the ones that stand out as original, ... .

We AKs only check the avatars in the testing area, if seahawk uploads them or not, well we are not able to influence that!

You have to send them to seahawk when they are in the correct size and you need luck to get chosen!

I actually made a bit of a mistake last time I went through avatars... I had a bunch I downloaded to my PC and THOUGHT I had uploaded to the forums. Turns out I was mistaken. So I was a bit behind, for which I apologize. I just finished uploading a bunch of avatars (both from recent PMs and the batch I thought I had done previously), so yours may be amoung them.

Generally, if you don't see an avatar you submitted uploaded (and especially if you sent them to me with a read reciept and know that I've read your PM), it's for one of these reasons:
  • You didn't follow a rule as to size/format. I recieve a LOT of over 95x95 avatars, or avatars that are sent to me as .bmp or .png files, and these are unusable
  • Your link didn't work, or led to a passworded site I couldn't access
  • There are multiple versions of what you sent, or yours just wasn't signifigantly different from an existing avatar. I'm not looking for the next Picasso when it comes to avatars, but if I already have 17 Twilly avatars and the one you submit is just a cropped screenshot, it probably won't get uploaded
  • You sent me a personal avatar that would have been appropraite for you, but next to useless for anyone else (eg: when I get an avatar with someone's character name on it)
  • Your avatar was too dark, too blurry, or too washed out to use. I realize some of this may happen due to converting to a usable format (.jpg or .gif)... bit if it destroys the avatar too much, I have to pass on using it
  • You sent an non-AE avatar (yes, this still happens on occasion).

Also, the way I upload avatars is a two step process. I download them all to my PC, and then upload all the ones that don't break the rules (mainly size and file type) back to their respective folders. As such, by the time I reject an avatar for being in the wrong format, I usually no longer know who sent it to me originally. If I catch it before I download them, I do try to respond... but if I don't, it's almost impossible for me to PM you back and say why your avatar wasn't chosen, or even to let you know that it was chosen.

I never suspected seahawk himself to reply. I'm guessing the avatar got lost in the bunch mentioned above being that they were rated all in good standing in the link to the post above. I will send them again!

    Lock please.

    Lock requested. ~phoenixfire555
