OK, so i received a PM the other day saying that there was no reason to post using a colour and that it is frowned upon etc, so i had a few posts edited back to black (used to write in purple). But i still see people quite happily writing in a colour they choose, and it stays that colour. What's up with this? I was told even AK's and Moderators shouldn't do it or something similar, but just seen a thread locked and they used a colour.

It's only certain forums and eye-popping colours they disallow.
For example, FF0000 is a neon red, which is harsh on the eyes.
My color is about half green, and half black, which is actually somewhat soothing to see.
Still, you are expected to keep colors and signatures out of all non-personal areas, Q&A and official threads come to mind immediately.

If you get a hard time with using a bright purple, like this or this, switch to a less offensive colour, like this, 170044.

Have you seen some of the colours people post in? like bright orange etc, but they keep theirs..

Hello, Digital X. I would like to make a friendly note that there is really zero reason to color-code a post other than the editing that the AKs and Moderators do. In fact, it is even frowned upon for the AKs and Moderators to do so, so regular members are not alone in this. Anyways, that is all. Keep up the great work.

PM from The Game. So that sounds to me, like it is ALL colours.

More than a Game

Well, its just extra coding for you guys. It's not against the rules, but it is, as TG said, frowned upon. Us as AKs should only use colored text only when we are making an edit in someone's post or if we are posting in a thread that requires attention (e.g. telling members to stop flaming)

Right, that's clearer now. Thank you. So eventually or some time, the only people that can edit posts in colour or not soon to be, whatever, is Ak's and Mods?

Well I really don't see a reason for "standard" forum members to not post in color!

Just like lonewulfy who posted in green letters, but you shouldn't use sort of neon color!

If you want to use normal blue, green red, purple. etc. go for it!

Yeah, i guess a colour less harmful on the eyes SHOULD be ok.

Some AK tell me if this colour is ok? Because i'm being told two different things here. Thank you.

Essentially, there is no reason for standard forum members, or staff/AKs posting 'as themselves' (ie not taking some sort of Moderating Action) to be posting in any colour/font/size/effect other than the standard forum default. If, however, you really want to post in another colour, assuming the colour is not hard to read AND that it is not similar to the edit colour of any of the AKs/regular Moderators of the boards that you post in most, then you can do this; what The Game was saying is that we would prefer that everybody used the forum default, however this is not a strict requirement as long as it doesn't have either of the problems I mentioned above.

Ok thanks Sir Gnome, that's cleared it up, so i CAN use the colour i wrote in above, is that ok? Because i don't know every AK's and Mods colour and didn't want to write in one that is already in use.

The requirements for Mods/AKs in terms of standard forum conduct is not the same as it is for other forum users. Yes, we do ask that AKs post in the forum default and use their edit colors only when editing someone else's post for moderation purposes. Yes, adding extraneous coding to your post for no reason is "ridiculous" and serves no real function. However, there is no rule that says you can't do it and we don't warn people for posting in a different color. If you want to code your posts purple, go for it. The only thing that might get you into trouble is using oversize font or a font face not included in the drop-down menu coded into the forums - if you use a font not included in the standard options, it may be deemed too hard to read and removed as spam.

Those notes aside, if you want to color your post, feel free. What we require of ArchKnights is conduct above and beyond that of a non-AK member.
