Not sure where to post this, but why can't we turn off our newsletter for DF and AQW? I'm not sure about MQ as I don't play it.

The newsletter?
There's an unsubscribe link right in it, at the bottom. Just click.

Also, I've noticed a great deal more posting of AQW/new game suggestions in the Forum Suggestions forum, and people asking for AQW help in the Forum Support section.
Perhaps we could direct people to the AQW forum if that's the game they came from? Include some sort of 'what goes here' message which pops up telling them exactly what they can and can't put there.
.....
But enough about my ideas to help with this. The thread would likely either be ignored by confused newbies, or spammed by people who don't understand why they can't post new topics. People resist change, particularly change which removes their ability to speak about things they want. I'm just saying, the average player of AQW is usually a lot younger and potentially more immature than the players of other, solo games.

The AQW GD used to be like that, where only mods and AKs could post, and there was a Topic Suggestion Thread stickied where people could post ideas for topics.

It was changed because none of the other GDs were like that. The only reason the forum was like that was because the game was really new at the time, and there wasn't really very much that could be discussed. Now that the AQW GD is more active and AQW is a more complex game, the Topic Suggestion Thread would be teeming with new posts every day that would take far too much time to answer. Not to mention, half the posts in that thread were suggestions for AQW, not for new topics.

I personally like this format better. Yes, there are more threads to look through. Yes, we have to delete threads now, too, instead of posts. But I don't have to deal with the Topic Suggestions Thread anymore, and I think it's much easier to look through some 10-20 new posts per thread than 40-60 new posts per thread.

Another subject.
Could the titles Banned by Request/Violation be added? To make clear why one was banned, it would look bad if you asked to be banned while not doing anything wrong. Or perhaps simpy "Absent"?

There already is such a distinction between those who request to be banned and those who are banned because of violation of forum rules. When a member requests to be banned, the moderator usually changes the title to "Banned - Requested".

As the original question has been satisfactorily answered, I'm going to lock this. Please don't ask further unrelated questions in a Forum Resources thread, even if you started it.
