Tagging a thread is reserved to threads that are of great relevance to the forum they reside, allowing them to increase their page limit (the amount of pages that it can has before being locked) from 10 to 30. That is mostly used in FAQ threads or "hot" discussion topics in the Game General Discussions boards. In most GD boards, threads are tagged if they are either re-created too many times or they are about "official" content, like Design Notes threads. These threads where you see people asking for tags are probably threads that had tags in their previous versions, or that always receive one (like Design Notes threads). @Below: No, they are not. Bumpings of any kind are, in most situations, not allowed, even in tagged threads. Though, that's subjective to the thread in question: Bumping a 6 month old DN is not allowed, but FAQ'd threads are generally allowed if the topic at hand is constantly updated. In case of doubt, the best is always contact a forum staff or assistant for information on a thread, and if bumps are (or not) allowed.
