Prerequisites

Completed the Light Orb quest chain + war


New NPCs

Ruin Xal - a dark-skinned woman, former member of the Resistance (found in the Oasis Inn, she is the quest giver)
Drou Xal - Ruin's father who has gone missing


Talk to Ruin

Greetings, <<character name>>. My name is Ruin Xal. You have done the Sandsea a huge favor by ridding us of that terrible tyrant, and I hate to ask more of you. But I need your help.

Your Name? My father named me when Sek Duet XV came into power--or, rather, when Sek Duat decided to be crueler for the fifteenth time. I grew up with the words, "Let your name be a reminder of what we stand for." It's odd; the Resistance did not stand for ruin. Eh, I never got metaphors.

Resistance? Yes, I was a member of the Resistance. I did not participate in the direct fighting, but I was good at what I did: trickery, bribery, hit-and-run, and cover-ups.

Help? My brother, Drou Xal, has gone missing. I fear that some of Sek Duat's most loyal followers are carrying on the Emporer's legacy. If this is the case, they can still re-summon Sek Duat with the Light Orb and one hundred enemies. My brother and I were both members of the Resistance.

Investigation



Pre-Quest Dialogue

Ruin: I last saw my brother in our little sand hut. You should probably start by looking there.
Ruin: If you find anything, anything at all that looks suspicious, come back immediately.
*begin quest*

On Your Way to the House
Fight: Sand Spikes, Sand Scarabs; possibly (a) new monster(s) (nothing special, no bosses, just regular desert monsters)

At the House

*The house is completely destroyed.*

<<character name>>: Well...this looks suspicious.
<<character name>>: I guess I'd better search this junk for Ruin to see if there's anything worthwhile.

*<<character name>> searches through junk; finds bits of clothing, household items, a radio*--

<<character name>>: What is that?!

--*a turtle*--

<<character name>>: This is too weird...
<<character name>>: Hey, what's this?

*<<character name>> picks up a glowing stone. Face gets all happy, like during the scene with Lim's cat.*

<<character name>>: Shiny!

*A sudden flash. <<character name>>, who is no longer holding the stone, ends up in the Royal Palace, which is empty. A big question mark appears above <<character name>>'s head.*

<<character name>>: I'd better go tell Ruin about this.

Sek Duat's End


Pre-Quest Dialogue

Ruin: <<character name>>! Have you found anything?
<<character name>>: Yes, I did. Look at this shiny rock! *pulls out rock*
Ruin: And?
<<character name>>: When I touched it, it brought me to Sek Duat's Palace.
Ruin: Oh, no! That must be my brother's Necessity Stone. It brings you wherever you need to be.
Ruin: If it brought you to the Sand Palace, there must be a reason for it.
*begin quest*

At the Inn

Ruin: Give me the stone. You must go to the Royal Palace and do whatever it is you need to do there.
<<character name>>: Which is?
Ruin: Sek Duat was never finished off.
<<character name>>: You cannot kill a Lich.
Ruin: You can try.

In the Palace

<<character name>>: Sek Duat? Where are you, you bag of bones?

*The lights go out.*

<<character name>>: ...

*They go back on. Sek Duat is standing in front of you.*

Sek Duat: You have fallen right into my trap.
<<character name>>: Is this a joke? I came looking for you. I found you. Now I get to beat the living daylights out of you. But first, tell me: where is Drou Xal?
Sek Duat: Somewhere he'll be safe. I promised Ruin I wouldn't hurt him.
<<character name>>: Ruin? She tricked me?
Sek Duat: Don't blame the poor girl. She already lost her father. The thought of her brother gone as well was too much for her to handle. I agreed to let him loose if she brought you to me.
<<character name>>: What about the Necessity Stone?
Sek Duat: All a part of the plan. I've bent it to my will. I brought you where I wanted you to be.
<<character name>>: So what happens now?
Sek Duat: You can't possibly fight me. I will kill you. Now. Guards, sieze him!

*You go into a fight with Palace Guards. You get no heals. Every time you beat one, they get stronger. This goes on until you lose. The next cutscene begins with you on the ground, unconscious.*

Sek Duat: And now, the finishing blow.

*He raises his hand in preparation to strike. The Necesity Stone glows, and in come hundreds of Resistance members. At their head is Ruin.*

Ruin: Charge!

*The battle commences. You get to fight Sek Duat while the Resistance takes care of the Palace Guards. You win.*

Ruin: I'm sorry that had to happen. I really was on your side the whole time. When you went to the palace, I gathered as many former Resistance members as I could. The Stone bent to my will, not Sek Duat's.

The Hunt for Drou


Pre-Quest Dialogue

Ruin: Sek Duat has been locked up, but we still need to find Drou. I've interrogated some of Sek Duat's men that survived the battle, and I've managed to narrow down his possible location to a few spots in the desert.

*begin quest*

*Go on a minigame to locate Drou. It's like the Nautaloid quest, but you're flying on your dragon.*

When You Find Him

Drou: Thank you! How did you know where to find me?
<<character name>>: It took a lot of guessing.
Drou: All we need is to take care of--
<<character name>>: Sek Duat? Already done. He's been locked up for good.
Drou: No, I was talking about the Sand Dragon guarding my cell. You woke him up.
<<character name>>: Hehe...oops.

*summon Titan Dragon and fight the Sand Dragon and win*
