I was wondering when it is ok to PM an AK and when it is bad to do so. I do not know how busy AKs are usually and now many PMs they get everyday, but if you just wanted to talk about an idea with them or ask them about a thread idea or something like that if it is ok to PM one.

So what is considered important enough to PM an Mod and what just makes their job harder?

You should always PM an AK before you PM a Moderator.

You cannot PM a moderator. You can PM an Archknight instead of a moderator, and maybe you could ask them to carry on a message to a moderator.

An AK is privileged to do certain things. A mod can do anything that he/she wishes.
Ex:
Moderators (I believe it was the head staff) made the forum rules. Not the Archknights.

Long story short, a Moderator is a higher rank than an Archknight.

Outsmarting Bugs

Nothing stops you from PMing a moderator. There's no specific list of things you can or can't PM a moderator with, if you have questions or concerns over forum policy or content you can always PM a moderator and they will either assist you or direct you to someone who can help. They are busy people so you should try to avoid PMing them with something like "hey does my character look cool" but I don't think any of us mind a friendly hello here and there either.

The big difference between a moderator and an ArchKnight is that a moderator is a full staff member while an ArchKnight is only a staff assistant. Moderators also have powers in all boards while AKs only have powers in the sections they work for.

Moderators are busy in varying degrees depending on what they have going on in RL. But, our PM boxes are open. We always want you to PM us when you have issues that need to be dealt with. In fact, we seriously want you to contact us. Granted, AKs can handle the bad stuff too. But don't think that we are unreachable.

I get PMs from forumites frequently regarding problems they see, ideas they want to try in my forums, clarification inquiries and to simply have a conversation.

We are here to not only police the forums and keep them a fun place to hang out, but to provide opportunities for community growth. Contacting one of us to discuss ways to do that is not only acceptable, but wonderfully welcomed.

As long as you aren't spamming our inbox or sending questionable PMs, you shouldn't have any reservation about contacting us.

In the event that a Moderator is just totally busy, they will let you know if your PMs are more social in nature.

It is good to hear that the Moderators and Arch Knights are open to PMs. I thought since they kind of work on the forums they might be busy a lot and not welcome unnecessary conversation.
