When the forum merger between these and the old EpicDuel forums occurred, CHG got a revamp to accommodate EpicDuel Factions. This logic has been flawed from the start: why should ED factions be placed with the other games? As I see it, there are three types of things that are going on in the CHG recruitment board right now: clans, clubs, and factions. Despite the attempts of the moderating staff in their attempt to make CHG an AE-only place, clubs -- groups of forumites bound by a common interest rather than a single AE game, or who identify as playing "all AE games" -- persist to have recruitment threads in the recruitment board. When the moderating staff outlawed AQ & MQ clans, their reasoning was that DF and AQW have been destined for a while to get a guild system. I must say that as it stands, DF is as likely to get guilds right now as MQ (the MQ version being "Armadas"): the staff have announced that they will work on them in some point in the not-near future, but then the staff got caught up in the main stuff and had no time to work on them. But MQ Armadas are not allowed in CHG. This reasoning implies that they want the CHG board to be, eventually, a place where all in-game player-created groups join together. Unfortunately, this isn't happening. Nor do I think it will ever happen. Imagine a world where AQW Guilds, DragonFable Guilds, MechQuest Armadas, EpicDuel Factions, and HeroSmash...clans?...have all been released in-game, and we continue to use the CHG board for all of them. And people know that it exists. First of all, the recruitment threads all schlumped together. People who want to join, say, a DragonFable guild -- unless they specifically have a specific, well-known one in mind, like the Beacons of Hope -- they will have to sort through what will probably mostly be AQW and HS clans to find a few DF guilds. Second, there will likely be a thread in the GD of each of the single-players about guilds/armadas, killing any discussion that would have taken place in the boards designated to such discussion. AQW and HS, in the best scenario, will not have that problem. But EpicDuel? As you can see, the EpicDuel Factions forum is already being used in place of the recruitment forum. There are a few reasons for this: - the CHG staff are slacking, -- this is understandable as most CHG ArchKnights have duties elsewhere, either in other forum or managing their own clans --
- people are used to it this way, -- the old EpicDuel forum did it this way, and it worked --
- and it makes sense -- EpicDuel Factions are a community experience; why dampen the community by restricting faction recruitment and interaction to private messages? It's no wonder that people are switching to The-Forum-Which-Must-Not-Be-Named.
I suggest that the EpicDuel Factions board be put with the other regular EpicDuel boards, with the following rules: Every faction can have only one recruitment thread. You may not PM people asking them to join your faction. The regular rules, like follow the UFR and be respectful of each other. As for the actual CHG board, I'm asking that the CHG board go back to allowing clans of all games, and perhaps dividing itself into "clans" (games) and "clubs" (no games) instead of by game. It looks like this in my fantasy: [Clans, Houses, and Guilds] -- Game Clans (discussion board) --- Recruiting -- Club Recruiting Paxia would stay there because the staff obviously want it to. As would GEARS Houses. Edit: I forgot to mention that it would be inconvenient for the EDGD AKs, whom LB is just starting to whip into shape (apparently their shackles have been loose this whole time), to have to manage another board. My suggestion, if accepted, can avoid implementation until LB deems the AKs ready.
