Can people delete their own threads in places like a General Discussion?
I've seen a lot of "I can't delete it" while I remember being able to delete my own threads.

I'm not going to make a ridiculous thread on a General Discussion just to test this, so I'll just ask.

 Some forums do not allowed users to delete their own threads while in others they can. It varies from GD to GD and other parts of the forum.

 The icon legend at the bottom of a forum's page also lists user permissions - you can find out what exactly you can do in what forums by looking there.
