Why does the the dates on posts on the forums always update the dates on really old posts?

Hm, do you mean a thread like this one where the opening post's date is after the responses to it? It usually means that the mods or AKs of the forum have bumped the thread by reposting the initial post (rather than making a new post of their own saying "bump"). They'll do that in places where a thread has fallen off the front pages but should be brought back. If that's not what you mean... then yeah, please clarify. :P
