no flaming please i had a level 1 challenge me and he blocked me so is that just luck bad luck and no skill what do you think

At lvls 1-29 its about skill, but at higher lvls when everyone has maxed out stats and enhancements its a lot about luck.

I agree strongly,

But the battles I do get agianst people who dont spam I find very enjoyable.

Luck itslef inst the main problem here, the problem is Luck is a problem WHEN you verse builds that spam, between two averagely powered build Luck barely bothers me.

So perhaps LUCK isnt the problem to be fixed in this situation.

No, luck is really only a factor when the battles are very evenly matched, but in order of what makes the biggest difference to winning or losing:

1. Equipment
2. Skill
3. Level diffierence
4. Character class
5. Enhancements
6. Luck

The game is about probability, your level, equipment, class, skills, biuld, ect... affect what will probably happen. There are no guarentees.

Hahahaha, comical was so shocked in battle when the new player had blocked that in his surprise comical accidentally refreshed the page, giving the new player a win.

I think it's because everyone found the "best build" already, so it will come down to luck to decide the battle
And of course, the imbalance

I agree with Goony's list he made, and with Bluekatz statement. What build you have would be at the top of Goony's list but by level 34 everyone has figured out good builds. And there are those once in every 100 battles were you lose when you obviously should have won, but they get made up for with those battles you win where you obviously should have lost.

However, it would be great if luck was less of a factor and no battles were determined by it.

Mostly Luck

1)Luck 60%
2)Build/strategy 20%
3)Enhancements 10%
4)Class 10%

I sometimes win against 2 normal block 1 rage block 1 deflect 1 crit, so that means there is a small part of strategy and other things. But mainly i think ED has no difference than a casino game.

Ikr imagine if payers could actually affect things like blocks, deflects, criticals, and first turn through their stat placement?

Oh but apparently 0% is a bad idea because then this would be a strategical game...

I'd have to say yes. Yes, yes and again yes. The blocks, crits and deflections is to... common now a days.

I think it's a little strong to say the whole game is luck.
With even the smallest dexterity it's possible to block.

Yep on my low lvl alt I blocked 6 times and I only had 20-24 def and my opponent had 10-12 def and I blocked 6 times in a row. So I won. Me and my opponent where like WOW!

4 out of every 100 strikes(thats 1 out of every 25) you will get blocked. Nothing you can do, no level you can reach, no amount of DEX difference can change that.

24 times you will destroy the poor lvl 1 player but 1 time he will block. Thats not luck, thats just the math.

I feel that I have little room to complain about luck, although it seems to take more than it gives...
I do wish though, that support was less luck based.
If I had a dime for every time I was critted by someone with half, or even only a third of my support....

I mean...it seems that 69 support is just a heap of a useless stat for a bounty hunter...

I would like to add that although percentages are a frequency, luck is not predictable. There is still the possibility that even after 1000000000 battles you could still encounter no blocks, however unlikely.

Frequencies aren't there, its the ability to happen is why people compliment or rant.

@Sparticus The 4% is more like 15%. I have 159 dex so most battles my chance to be blocked is 4%.

I think if you have a good build, an enemy that gets a lucky block or crit will still lose to you. But I also think that there is quite a bit of luck involved, especially since everyone is running around with the same weapons and armors, and there are a lot of duplicate builds.

this wouldn't be such a bad issue if u removed the option to see enemy builds.

then build copying WOULD NOT HAPPEN

imagine playing in beta and being the only heal looper. because no one could copy ur build.
imagine being the only str/dex BH from gamma.

if u take out the option for people to view another person's build, the game would change dramatically and build copying would stop.

i know balance is bad.
but a large role in what screws up balance, is build copying.

if heal loop were never nerfed because so many people used it, we wouldn't have the focus abusers (u know who u are) and we wouldn't have agility, along with the nerfs on field medic.

so dear balance team, if u want to start balancing the game by a large marging.
get rid of build viewing, so builds cant be copied.

@gold How will that make the game more balanced? You would go into battle blind not knowing a thing about your opponent. In fact that would make the game even more dependent on luck because none of you know each others builds or skills! You would have to hope you get lucky and be able to beat your opponent! The entire game would be completely dependent on luck because their is no way to counter a build you can't see. Everyone would just spam dex and tech or spam support or strength. Their would just be spam builds planning on lasting long or killing fast because you never know what might happen.

To be honest, as long as I could see the stats (or simply bottom bit, dmg, res/def, etc) it'd be good enough to try and fight them. I'd at least know the weakness and what to defend from.
What their strategy is? God knows, I simply must assume either by stats or random guess; simply defend against Res/Def.

On a side note, wouldn't be much of a problem working out CHs - high Dex = Multi, Str = Massacre. ;D

many people say they want a stratgy game, or a game that take skills.
it would take true skills to go into battle not knowing ur enemy build (altho u can get a rough estimate form their items)
and beat them.

and no isaia, the dumb build makers might spam str or support.
the smart ones will use versatile builds that can fight many types of builds.


overall what this would do is, stop the "ultimate" build copying.
and there wouldn't be not even as many issues as we have with balance today.

str tlm wouldn't have been a problem if u cant copy builds.
neither would heal loop.
nor str ch.

what this would do is make people use their brains to make a build. and not copy it from the persons whos top on today's boards.
