So we all know, as we get to level 30+ and stuff, retraining is a flat fee of 500 credits, no matter how many points you shift around.

I find sometimes I make a new build, then after like 10-20 battles, notice that if I had just put one more point from (Blah) into (Blah, usually energy), my build would work so much better.

And so therefore, with a sigh, I go back, make the tiny adjustment and waste 500 credits.

I'm coming to you all forumites to ask if you guys find yourselves sometimes doing this as well? When you are making small changes to your build, but still have to pay 500 credits?

I was thinking of sort of a "Pay by how many levels down you re-train", as in like:

~75 credits per level you train down (ie. for 75 credits you can move 1 skill point and 4 stat points, 150 credits = 2 skill points 8 stat points, 225 credits = 3 skill points 12 stat points, etc...), but it caps at like 500 credits, in which you can retrain as many stats as you'd like.

What do you think? Since the beginning I have always thought that the Retraining Prices could use some fixing, and this solution makes sense. If you only need to tweak a couple stat points or skill points, it won't cost you much, while if you are going for an all-out build change, then yes, just pay 500 credits as usual.

Imo 500 is good, or would you prefere the old 650 creds price??

Yeah - they brought down the price, so its OK at the moment. Truthfully, changing your entire stats and skill tree should be more involved (quests, training, un-training, etc.), so for a flat fee of 500 credits to do anything you want - that's pretty easy.

I like the retrain price by levels you do.

Works good.

650 was not the "Old Price", from beta, the price was 500 credits. It was 650 credits for around 2 weeks.

I mean really, if you only retrain to have a total remake of your build, this doens't affect anything-still a flat fee of 500 credits.

If you find yourself tweaking your builds a little bit each time, than this is where you can save a bunch of credits.

I think it would ACTUALLY work if retraining was based on how many points were changed. This takes level scaling and makes it more accurate towards just how much is exchanged in credits according to how severe the retrain was.

@^: I could swear that it was only 650 credits for only a couple weeks, as they just recently released the new retraining system not even 2 months ago, and it was changed to 500 credits not that recently ago...

Price Based on points shifted = basically retrain by level...in a sense, you agree with me though?

Yes. I would not make it a steal though. I would have the most minimal cost at 10 credits, and the most maximum cost at 1250 which is close to the number of stat points earned by level 34 times 10 credits each. I would also accept reducing the 1250 to 1000 in the event a player decides a major shift, for example from maximum health and Strength to maximum Technology and energy.

What would you call a minor change because I think it should be either 25 or 50 credits a change until you hit your levels price and then it is just one flat fee but that could be something weird to code

the new retrain was put into effect the 21th of october 2011, then the cred cap was launced at the 10th of februari 2012. certainly several months,
113 days actually, almost a third of a year :3

I think we should pay an amount depending on how many stats we move around. I have one extra stat point in dex that I don't need and really want to use on energy, but there's no point in spending 500 credits for one point.

Hm, maybe I didn't retrain as much during that time. Because it seemed like it was only in practice for like 2-3 weeks. Anyway, the majority of ED's history the retrain was 500 credits.

Anyway, nico0las, that has happened to me when I remade my build, I fought and fought and realized after a number of battles that an extra point into energy from dex would help my build alot, which should cost like 50 credits to change (easy change, just 1 stat point right?), but instead, it costs me 500 >.>

So you all guys against this, why? Do you guys not "tweak" your build very often? Note that I'm not pushing for a reduction of 500 credits for a full retrain, I'm just discussing how if we want to only adjust a couple points because it might fit our build better, it shouldn't cost us 500 credits to move around just a couple points.

I'm thinking like:

Moving 1 skill point = 30 credits
Moving 1 stat point = 15 credits

"Retraining" a level (4 stat points 1 skill point ) = 90 credits.

For 500 credits, you basically retrain 5.5 levels = basically moving 5.5 skill points and 22.5 stat points around = basically you need to retrain fully if you are moving that many stat points around.

Make sense? I mean really, if you have to move around like 20 stat points and 5 skill points, then you need to retrain.

How to program this? I don't know, but every time you move a stat/skill point around, it displays how much you are going to pay at the bottom corner, but it caps at 500 credits.

I find the price fine but the part where i'm going to use a different weapon to buff up my build forces me to retrain TWICE is the problem there .

@Joe
Here's an example :
I wanted to use Sharktooth Blades but i don't have the right Support requirement so i'm forced to retrain 2 - 3 times because of meeting the requirements and tweeking my build .

@^: Er, it works just like our current retraining system, except that the pricing is different.

Instead of flat-fee 500 credits per change, no matter how big or how small, it will be based on the number of skill/stat points you move around.

So if you had a build that you liked, bought new blades that required you to move 4 points from (blah) into (blah), instead of paying 500 credits to retrain, you would spend only like 100 credits to move 4 stat points over to another stat, therefore saving you credits!

I don't see how anyone can object to that.

Ohh please, there are broken item drops and emeralds from Capensis and Brachylagus. That already gives enough credits.

Only emeralds(Brachy has a small chance to drop a perfect emerald). They don't drop any broken items.

Supported, even though it is a simple matter to check Edwiki stat progression page before you retrain.

It's not really about checking stats on EDwiki, it's more like sometimes you realize that instead of having max plasma armor, it would be more wise to have 9 plasma armor and put the remaning point into defense matrix or something like that, after you battle a couple of battles with a new build and realize that your build could be tweaked a little bit.
